A FORMER nursery worker has revealed some of the "appalling" names that parents would decide to call the children who attended her playgroup.
She said that she and other staff members "absolutely do judge" the names that parents come up with for their offspring.
Taking to Reddit, the former childcare worker said that one of the children at her nursery had been named 'Kerosene', which is a flammable liquid used as a fuel for light, heat and power.
However, she said that the "absolute worst" names she came across were from two siblings named 'Decksxtaah' and 'Moonleighah' (pronounced Dexter and Moon-lee-ya).
According to the nursery worker, both of these children had asked if they could instead be called Shane, which was the name of their dog.
When the nursery worker asked why, they said it was because Shane was so much easier for them to spell.

The children's parents had also just given birth to another child, which they had decided to name 'Belocidy'.
The nursery worker said: "When I asked where they came up with the name, the mum explained it meant fast.
"You know, like, when you're on your bike and going downhill?
"You've got Belocidy when that happens….."

Reddit users flooded the replies section of the post, with many in disbelief at the mum's misspelling of velocity.
One person said: "This has to constitute child cruelty. Those poor kids.
"Did anyone ever correct her on velocity? Sounds like she heard it said by someone who had a cold."
Another person said: "A family member of mine worked around a lady who named her kid "Enamel" (ee-nah-mel) because she, and I quote, 'Read it on a paint can, and thought it sounded cute.' "
A third person said: "Could she not have named the puppy Belocidy and the child Shane? Poor kid."
A fourth person remarked: "I refuse to believe Decksxtaah is a real name.
"Two people had to be together, agree on that name.
"They then shared it with their friends and family, had to go and register the name and after all that they still end up with Decksxtaah."
