WHEN it comes to wedding guest attire - there's only one rule you need to follow - don't upstage the bride.
But people have slammed one mother-of-the-bride for doing just that with her sequin dress.
People were left horrified by the floor-length gold glitzy number she planned to wear to her daughter's wedding day.
The bride-to-be took to social media to share the dress her mum planned to wear asking whether it was appropriate.
Sharing a picture of the dress the woman revealed her wedding was set in a forest in the winter - and it seemed the dress didn't quite fit the theme.
This is sort of the definition of "upstaging the bride"

It also seemed that the bride was concerned the dress would upstage hers as she had no 'sparkle at all.'

"Our venue is in a forest park and my wedding dress has no sparkle at all."
The bride-to-be added that the dress code was cocktail attire - but her mum apparently didn't understand it.
"We were going to have the dress code as cocktail attire but she doesn’t understand dress codes because “it’s a wedding!”," she continued.

She went on to ask if she was being to picky with her mum's dress as she thought it was too 'glam for the wedding.
"Am I being too picky? I told her it seems to glam for our venue and next to my dress but she wants to wear all sequins/sparkle," she added.
The post which was shared in the Reddit group soon went viral with hundreds of interactions.
People were quick to share their thoughts - and many claimed it was too much and would upstage the bride.
One person wrote: "This is sort of the definition of "upstaging the bride" lol. It's also not November or forest appropriate at all."
Another commented: "Will she be accepting an Emmy in said forest, or…?"
