She revealed she had worked on multiple different brands so 'had seen it all' in terms of what goes on behind the scenes.

Maggie said: "First thing they don't want you to know is that lipstick that you just tried on has probably been tried on by like, 100 other people.

"Even if we've cleaned it and sanitised it for you before you've tried it on, there is no way of knowing if all of the bacteria and germs that is on that lipstick have actually been removed."

The make-up pro added that they probably weren't as lots of customers would help themselves to the lipstick and staff couldn't keep on top of cleaning them so recommended swatching them on your hand instead.

"I have literally seen people with cold sores active also on their lips pick up lipstick testers and lip gloss testers and use them straight from the bullet and put them back," she revealed.

She added they often get pressure from managers to upsell to customers, so it might be best to avoid the lip liner they're trying to sell you along with your dream lipstick.

Last but not least, Maggie let beauty fans into a secret on how to get freebies.

She explained they often have free samples to give out behind the counter, but they're not for everyone.

Maggie explained: "Those customers who were, like, really rude or they just wasn't nice that they didn't just display, like, general manners.

"At the end, they'd be like, 'oh, have you got any samples or free gifts?'

How To Save Money On Beauty Buys

IF your purse is feeling tighter than ever before and you're looking to save cash on your make-up routine, have you ever thought of trying out beauty dupes?

Here's five of the best recommended beauty buys that are almost identical to the posh versions, but for a fraction of the price.

FACE BASE: If you can't afford Charlotte Tilbury's £52 Magic Cream, why not try a dupe that costs just £5.49 from Superdrug?

TONE IT UP: If Drunk  Elephant's £62 Protini moisturiser is out of your price range, you'll need to check out the new dupe in Home Bargains.

TINTING IT: With Fenty's 'game-changer' skin tint costing an eye-watering £29, a popular supermarket's affordable alternative might just be the thing for you.

GET COVERED: At £29 for a Tarte concealer, the new Primark dupe is much more affordable at just £3.50.

SPRAY YAY: For those wanting to smell fresh, without the price tag, Aldi's new Prada and Chloe perfume dupes cost a fraction of the price.

One person wrote: "I work on a makeup counter and honestly giving out extra goodies to the nice, understanding customers is my favourite part of the job."

Another commented: "I'm actually terrified of tester lipstick now."

"In school, my friend put on lipstick tester and within a few days she had the nastiest cold sore on her lips," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "The lipstick one is SO REAL."

"No bc I hate even testing lip products on my hand, let alone my actual lips,” claimed a fifth
