Well, it turns out there's a very "smart" explanation - and it's blowing people's minds.
As reported by , a post that's since gone viral on TikTok, which was initially uploaded by , has revealed all.
She explains that a white lid indicates the water has been "processed", while green suggests "flavour has been added."

Alternatively, if you opt for a bottle with a blue lid, then you're tasting "Spring" water, while black will mean that the water is alkaline.

It wasn't long before shocked social media users took to the comments section to express their shock at the discovery.

People have been left mind-blown after discovering that the image doesn't, in fact, show a hilly landscape.
Instead, it's actually a profile view of a man laying down asleep.

A woman from underwear brand Mori took to to share the reason, admitting she "grew up wondering" what they were for.
"They exist for practical reasons rooted in the pre-elastic days (think: way before the 1930s)," she continued.
"The little ribbon and bow system through the eyelets helps keep the undergarment secured and fitted."
In addition, the bows are "really handy" when you're getting dressed in the dark and don't know the front from the back of your knickers.
