In the clip, she said: "Hi, I'm a nail tech, and these are my unpopular opinions that are probably gonna make you think I'm an a***ole."

The first trend Jay hated that made it onto her list was French tips on toes.

"French toes are icky," she said.

"I mean, icky is actually putting it politely, if you want me to be brutally honest, French toes are disgusting.

"Why on earth would you want to emphasise a tip on your toenail?

"Why do you want long toenails?"

On the topic of French tip nails - the beauty pro added that this designer was so 'lazy' for brides to pick on their wedding day.

But going too extreme was also an issue as Jay revealed 3D art was tacky.

All over chrome, it never looks good

The nail tech did note that she appreciated the artistic work that goes into it but didn't love the way they looked or the grim hygiene that comes with them as bacteria can get stuck in the crevices.

Despite many opting for white nails in the summer to make their tan stand out, Jay said they were ugly and so was the new trend of all-over chrome nails.

"All over chrome, it never looks good. After a couple of days and it just starts looking dull and looking a bit like you haven't washed your hands properly," she explained.

Another pet peeve of the nail artist was getting just one accent nail done on each hand - particularly on the ring finger.

Instead, she suggested opting to get two accent nails on each hand if you're getting nail art or risk looking like a 'Karen.'

She also hated the 'Duck' shape nails and said they needed 'the electric chair.'

Biggest beauty mistakes

Fabulous' Beauty Editor Tara Ledden has shared the do's and don'ts when it comes to beauty.

"No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you’re not getting the basics right, the rest is wasted.

"There aren’t many non-negotiables, but these are the biggest beauty mistakes sabotaging your regime."

  • Not wearing SPF: Sun-damage is the main cause of premature skin ageing, so if you want to keep your skin looking plump and glowing, sun cream is vital.
  • Using expired products: Best case, they’re ineffective and don’t deliver the results they promise, worst case they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products differ - for example, mascara is usually good for 3-6 months while lipstick can last for 9-18 months. Check the ‘POA’ symbol on the packaging (it looks like a jar and will have a number inside for how many months it’s safe once opened. If you can’t remember when you opened your product, throw it away and start again, marking the month and year with a permanent marker on the packaging.
  • Not knowing your undertones: If you’re using make-up with the wrong undertones, it’ll never look natural no matter how much you blend it! An easy trick to work out whether you have cool, warm or neutral undertones is to check the veins on your wrist - if they look blue, you have cool undertones, if they’re green, you have warm and if they’re a mix you have neutral.
  • Skipping heat protector: It might feel unnecessary, but much like sun damage on the skin, excess heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So, if you want shiny, healthy hair, or you’re trying to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is key.
  • Not washing your face before bed: it’s as simple as this, if you’re not washing your face before you go to sleep, everything that’s been on your skin during the day is sitting there for even longer, clogging your pores and drying out the surface. Any skincare applied on top isn’t going to be effective with a layer of dirt underneath, and you’re probably going to end up with dirty pillows too - yuck!

It's not the only nail shape she hates, sharp square nails were also banned as she said they weren't practical for everyday life.

Finally, she admitted that being asked to have 'free rein' when designing nails for clients.

She also didn't like nail techs who didn't use gloves while doing other people's nails.

The clip posted to the nail tech's TikTok account @has since gone viral with over 370k views and 17k likes.

People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments.

One person wrote: "I'm not a nail tech but I agree with all of these! Duck nails are vile."

Another commented: "I love how brutal this is."

"Gotta keep it spicy," replied Jay.

"I had my nails white for holiday once and the pool and sun cream turned them yellow, never again," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "Sat here with my French toes but you are HILARIOUS."

"This had be cracking up and I agree with pretty much all,” claimed a fifth.
