But if you have any particular skin concerns, such as redness, acne, or dark circles, she said it's fine to target them because "managing them" will boost your anti-aging strategy.

Savorie dubbed "prevention" and "knowledge" as your best weapon against signs of aging so you don't have regrets down the road.

She said it was vital to find out which parts of your skin show your age first.

It could be your neck, chest, hands, or elbows, but "it rarely starts with your face."

"Take good care of those areas with daily sunscreen, daily moisturizers, or lotions," she added.

For facial care, she suggested opting for gels, serums, and light lotions instead of heavy creams and oils, unless you have serious dryness or flakiness.

Also, she said there were two things to "figure out" early on in your skincare routine.

First, they are the areas with the thinnest skin on your face, like the eye sockets and lips.

Also, be mindful of whether or not your skin is sensitive because those with it have special needs for what ingredients it can tolerate.

Above all, she said to pay attention to your face over the years and look for the first places that start to show a little laxity, and "give them a little more love."

But she warned not to become obsessive about it.
