A WEDDING is the perfect excuse to dress up, whether you're the bride or a guest.

But one couple have left the internet horrified after the groom failed to make any attempt to dress up for his wedding day.

Taking to social media, one person shared an image of the couple in a group and social media users were left stunned.

The bride had shared a picture for the couple after their wedding, writing: "Today was MY Day!

"We did it... 13 years later and I married my forever partner!"

The bride was clearly thrilled by tying the knot and posed with husband wearing a gorgeous floral lace white gown.

But her partner seemed to have forgotten what the occasion was.

Instead of turning up in a suit - or even just trousers and a shirt, he decided to go for a more casual look.

The image saw him wear an Underarmour baseball cap along with a red oversized T-shirt and basketball shorts.

To top it off he wore some chunky grey Nike trainers."

They wrote: "Ugh I try so hard not to judge, but after 13 years together you'd think the groom could put in a little more effort than dressing like some middle schooler on the way to gym."

‘How self-obsessed!’ people rage as woman shows off her dress for pal’s wedding, but SHE says the bride approved

The image soon went viral on Reddit with hundreds of people taking to the comments to share their thoughts.

Many revealed they would have turned away and not gone through with the marriage.

Dos and don’ts of wedding dress codes

By Josie Griffiths, Fabulous deputy editor and bride-to-be.

I’ll never forget the wedding I went to in October 2022 where a guest wore a white dress.

It was ill-fitting, knee length and looked nothing like an actual wedding dress, but that didn’t stop everyone judging her.

The rules on wedding guest outfits - which are annoyingly loads stricter for women than they are for men - are meant to be about “not upstaging the bride”, which in reality is quite hard to do on someone else’s wedding day.

But if you get it wrong as a guest, you do end up looking a bit silly, and in front of loads of people who don’t know you personally.

It’s just not the occasion for your new white dress, as much as online stores love dumping them in the 'wedding guest’ section.

I’d avoid anything too tight/short, and ditch super formal gowns unless the dress code calls for them - you don’t want to be in a full length sequin gown at a smart casual event.

Personally I don’t like black dresses either, it isn’t a funeral.

Otherwise you should be pretty safe. Technically wearing red means you’re in love with the groom, but that’s the kind of rule most people would scoff at nowadays.

I do always check what colour the bridesmaids are in, just to be safe, after the Spanish wedding where I watched them walk down the aisle in the exact same dress I’d had in my Asos shopping basket just weeks earlier.

If in doubt, safest to just double check with the bride… but if you’re already doubting your dress that might be all the answer you need.

"Ok, so this... Whatever he's wearing, wouldn't be acceptable for even going on a date. I hate it. I hate all of it. The fact that her grown-a** man husband this outfit on the regular is depressing," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "I wouldn't have married him. If my husband had shown up dressed like that, I would have turned the car around, gone home, and changed the locks."

"Nothing says I love you like a Nike shirt and some trainers,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “She looks ethereal and he looks like he’s going to BMX. I hope he puts more effort into their marriage than he did that outfit."
