"I hate that I know it works."
Having sufficiently built up suspense, she revealed that mayonnaise is the secret to soothing sunburns.

She poked fun at how lavish bathing in food sounded but insisted that it had worked for her.
"But hand to every deity ever, it works," the poster joked.
She explained that the hack was passed down to her from her grandmother.
"[My] younger brother woke us all up one summer, he had a horrible burn, mom called my grandmother in a panic, she suggested it, and it worked," she said.
She recommended trying out the at-home hack if no other treatment works.
"So if you're super at the end of your rope on it, nothing at all is working, even the sun gel with lidocaine? Try it," she said.
However, experts at spoke about the effectiveness of mayonnaise for treating sunburns and advised against it.
How does sunscreen prevent aging?
Dr. Michael Aziz, an internist and the author of the upcoming book The Ageless Revolution, explained how sunscreen prevents aging.
"Sunscreen protects your skin by acting as a barrier against harmful UV rays," told The U.S. Sun.
"There are two main types of sunscreen ingredients: mineral and chemical.
"Mineral ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide form a physical shield, reflecting UV light away from the skin.
"Without SPF protection, your skin may develop uneven pigmentation in an effort to shield itself from the sun's rays, leading to potential sun damage such as sunspots and premature aging.
"Using sunscreen is essential to prevent this and maintain healthy skin."
However, Larry Jones, MD, cautioned against applying food items to soothe irritated skin.
The medical professional explained there has been no evidence that using food items works to soothe sunburns.
He also highlighted how the hack can potentially irritate the skin even further.
"Don’t slather on butter, mayonnaise, yogurt, or egg whites, because those items aren’t sterile," he warned.
