MAKING A SPLASH
The beauty fan wrote in response to a user asking how best to protect their thinning tresses from swimming pool chemicals.
“I have a very extra, but effective routine for protecting my hair from swimming,” she said, writing under the handle .
“I was learning to swim a few months ago and was in the pool two to three times a week.
“I would soak my hair with clean water, apply a thick conditioner, and then shea butter, followed by two swim caps.
“After swimming I would rinse my hair immediately and use a moisturizing shampoo and hair mask, which I would leave on my hair for my ride home and rinse when I got home.”
She revealed an additional step in her routine for maintaining her hair health.
“Once a week I would use a clarifying shampoo made specifically for swimmers, and also started using Olaplex at least once a week,” she said.
“I have fine hair but very curly, so maybe this routine would be too heavy for you.
“My hair was slowly getting more and more destroyed from chlorine before I started doing this and it helped to nurse my hair back to health.”
