Taking to social media, she asked for some advice on her wedding guest dress, and hoped to make use for it after as well.

She wrote: "Can I wear something like this to a wedding (with heels)?

"I suit slightly 50s styles and this colour, and I'd like sleeves (it's an autumn wedding, and a Catholic one)."

But it seemed even she wasn't sure on the style as she added 'Is it too teacher like?'

The dress in question was form Amazon and cost £35.52 and came in five colours, but she opted for the red.

The frock came down just past the knees and had a collar, long sleeves and was buttoned down all the way.

It also featured a tie belt to cinch in the waist.

Amazon bosses say: "An elegant dress that's perfect for any event.

"Flattering wear-to-work, casual essential dress.";

But it seemed not everyone was impressed by the look and she even admitted to wanting to wear it daily as well.

She continued: "And to be honest I did think to myself that I can keep it to wear to the office after the wedding "

The post went viral on and plenty of people took to the comments to share their thoughts.

It seemed everyone agreed the outfit was way too casual for a wedding and looked more like office attire.

One person wrote: "It"'s more something I'd wear to an office.

Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette

If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble.

  • Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
  • Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
  • Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream - even if it's not.
  • Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
  • Wearing white is a massive no-no if you're not the bride.

Another commented: "No, it’s far too casual. You’ll look like you’ve not bothered to make an effort at all."

"Looks a bit casual to me. Again something I'd wear to the office in the summer," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "Far too casual."

"It's way to casual for a wedding, it would look like you couldn't be bothered to make an effort,” claimed a fifth.
