REDDIT USERS REACT
Reddit users were left totally divided, and many flocked to the comments to share their thoughts on the moniker.
Whilst some loved the name, others weren’t keen.
One user beamed: “I love the name Axel! We have good friends that used Axel as a middle name. It's unique and a nice name in my opinion.”
A second agreed: “I have a nephew named Axel. Very cute!”
Someone else shared: “Axel is an awesome name!”
However, another user branded it "terrible and tacky".
Another added: “Some names really are tragedeighs. Axel isn’t the worst, but the stereotypes with the name aren’t great.”
A third commented: “Unfortunately, you're getting a taste of what he will inevitably experience in the near future. If adults are making fun of it now, what do you think kids will do when they're in school?”
