The real reason Tommy cheated on Molly-Mae dates back to Love Island after a warning from Tyson, claims psychologist

CHEATING allegations against Tommy Fury may have taken fans by surprise – but his reckless betrayal had been brewing for a long time, says one psychologist.

In fact, there are “deep-seated reasons” why the 25-year-old supposedly committed the ultimate breach of trust against Molly-Mae Hague, also 25, that stretch back to when the couple met.

Picture the scene: it’s 2019 and boxing legend Tyson Fury’s brother has coupled up with sweet influencer Molly-Mae on the fifth series of ITV’s biggest dating show.

What the British public didn’t see weeks earlier was the Gypsy King trying to talk his little brother out of appearing on the show over fears he would “get carried away with being a TV reality star”.

The Fury family, headed up by dad John, are travellers who live traditional lives and are proud to have “fighting men” amongst their ranks.

This isn’t an image complemented by one of them appearing on a dating show.

Tyson admitted on The Lateish Show With Mo Gilligan in 2019 that he feared appearing on Love Island would “mess up” Tommy’s boxing career.

A disapproving eye from his heavyweight champion brother may have sparked feelings of inferiority in Tommy, says psychologist Jo Hemmings.

“He may have felt inadequate to Tyson, who is 11 years older than him and was distinctly unimpressed when he went into the villa,” she exclusively tells Fabulous

“Maybe he just never felt good enough.

“Feeling like an ‘also-ran’ can make men behave recklessly.”

An “also-ran” is someone in a competition who is unlikely to do well or who has failed – a feeling Jo believes has plagued Tommy for a lot of his adult life.

Tommy Fury's Wild Nights and Family Time

Armchair sport critics have long accused the pro boxer of piggybacking off Tyson’s success and questioned his merit in the boxing world – especially following his stint on Love Island.

This likely will have done damage to his ego and the way he views himself, says Jo.

Social media is awash with the same sentiments.

Cultural critics and broadcasters have suggested that the youngest son of John Fury likely has a “fragile ego” after “spending his life in Tyson’s shadow”.

Some believe that these feelings inspired him to cheat on Molly-Mae, in hope it would “make him feel like The Man for once”.

It was reported last week that a devastated Molly-Mae dumped Tommy after learning of his infidelity.

He is accused of kissing a Danish woman in a nightclub during a 2am vodka binge in North Macedonia – but sources close to the couple fear this wasn’t his first unfaithful rodeo.

The Sun on Sunday revealed Molly-Mae dumped him an hour after he landed back in the UK after she was “sent an upsetting video”.

She also kicked the pro boxer out of their £4 million Cheshire mansion, which they shared with their daughter Bambi, one.

“We know he’s a risk-taker from his profession,” Jo tells.

“This may have spilled into thrill seeking by cheating, which may have inflated his ego.

“He could even have felt inadequate over Molly-Mae’s success, which seems to come easier to her than to him.”

On paper, Molly-Mae’s firms are worth FOUR times what Tommy’s are – and she’s been a huge earner since breaking through on Love Island in 2019.

Her three companies – MMH Group Holdings Ltd, MMH International Ltd and Filter (By Molly-Mae) Ltd – have combined reserves of £1,720,506.

Meanwhile, the boxer’s two main firms – Fury TNT and Tommy Fury TNT Ltd – have equity of £415,203.

“It’s this pattern of not feeling good enough,” psychologist Jo tells.

Molly-Mae was a sweet young girl when Tommy met her, and he was the big boxer. Her increased strength and maturity seems to have threatened his position in the relationship

“At heart, Tommy is a proper traditionalist.

“He thinks he should be the main breadwinner and may feel his masculinity is compromised by Molly-Mae’s mammoth success.

“She was a sweet young girl when he met her, and he was the big boxer.

“Her increased strength and maturity seems to have threatened his position in the relationship and he didn’t have the emotional maturity to cope with what he perceived as a threat to his manliness.”

He might simply take his frustration out on having further affairs, living life recklessly or channel his frustrations into his boxing

Jo Hemmingspsychologist

Jo believes that Tommy won’t have scratched his itch for validation through cheating.

In fact, she reckons he would’ve been overcome with guilt, no matter how many times he betrayed Molly-Mae.

A source close to the couple told The Sun that Tommy had cheated on his long-term girlfriend “a number of times” during their relationship.

“Tommy will have felt a raft of emotions – guilt, shame, probably remorse,” Jo analyses.

“He might decide that he wants forgiveness, to go to counselling or to reflect on why he behaved that way.

“Or he might simply take his frustration out on having further affairs, living life recklessly or channel his frustrations into his boxing.”
