DESPITE the passage of time, a grandmother’s skin remained as smooth as a baby’s for one big reason.

While her drastic approach is not recommended, there is an important takeaway about what causes the skin to age.

Redditor shared how her grandma’s particular fear led to her never having to deal with fine lines.

“My grandmother was agoraphobic,” she said.

While she admitted it was “sad” how her grandmother never left the house, not being exposed to the sunlight did reap some skin-saving benefits.

What’s more, she never incorporated any products into her routine to maintain smooth skin.

“She didn’t seem to do any skincare and she had zero wrinkles. Skin like a baby – like shockingly smooth,” she explained.

She might have had some sagging due to age, but for the most part, she was looking younger than her years.

While she didn’t recommend locking yourself up away from the world, she did believe there was a lesson we could all learn.

“So basically SPF – not saying don’t enjoy the sun because it has so many benefits obviously!” she said.

She did give her grandmother a shout-out for “being a total bada**.”

“[My] family had a place for her in the estate and she chose to go to a nursing home to socialize,” she said.

I used to spend a boatload on Sephora skincare – my swaps are better for my skin and wallet, it’s all $25 or less (1)

“She ran that place like a boss and had a ton of fun there. [She] even had the mayor on the phone and told him if they needed something.”

Others shared some additional golden beauty nuggets from their grandmothers.

“Wear driving gloves, and use hand cream. This was from my grandmother talking about my great-grandmother,” said a user.

“My great-grandma lived to be 104, and she used Ponds every single day,” another Redditor commented.

“Her mind and her knees were a mess at the end but her skin was so smooth!” they added.

And those weren’t the only wise pieces of advice they had learned from their elders.

“Take care of your teeth! My grandma made it to 102 years old with her original teeth; dentures don’t have to be a fact of life!” a user chimed in.

“Heatless curls (my grandma taught me) to keep hair healthy,” another explained.

“My mom told me to always wear sunglasses outdoors so I don’t get wrinkles from squinting,” a user added.

A Redditor also shared another way to ensure better skin.

“Never ever forget to remove your makeup,” they said.
