SPANX for the memories . . . these days shapewear provides greater comfort and wearability, with more than just big beige briefs on offer.
Some styles even masquerade as outerwear thanks to Kim Kardashian and her underwear business Skims.
Last week, M&S said its Rosie Huntington-Whiteley collection would include a “ContourWear” range with bonded panels and bum-lift tech to aid shaping, and the £40 Firm Control All In One is already flying off the shelves – but is it worth it?
Here, size 14 Paige Pilgrim, 29, rates competing designs out of five for price, comfort and shaping.
Skims, £70
Paige says: THIS really supports the bottom half of your body.
My bum feels lifted and thighs feel shaped.

But the structure and support isn’t there in the bust area.
You would need to keep adjusting your boobs if you don’t wear a bra.
Plus it’s very see-through so you would need a bra to cover you up even with clothes on top.

Rosie ContourWear at Marks & Spencer, £40
Paige says: Even though this is a little struggle to get on and a little more expensive than I would care to spend - it’s totally worth it.
The structure is brilliant for my boobs, I’m a 32H and it has the best support.
It also has the hole in the gusset so you don’t have to completely undress when you need the loo.
Overall I feel really comfortable and supported all at the same time.

Primark £11
Paige says: I actually love this one. It’s doing all the boosting, shaping and holding you’d expect from a more expensive brand and it’s only £11.
The only downside is that it doesn’t have a hole for when you need the toilet, so that will mean taking everything off.
Otherwise this Primark style would definitely been my favourite.

Next, £24
Paige says: Although this is incredible for cinching my waist, I do feel that after a couple of hours it might be uncomfortable.
It’s also a shame that there isn’t a bra included.
Instead, you wear your bra underneath, and panels from the armpit to the middle of your chest support the sides of your bust.
This gives you double straps which wouldn’t look neat under clothes.

Pretty Little Thing, £15
Paige says: THIS feels like it has good support around the bum and creates a really defined waist.
It doesn’t feel as strong and shapely as others, plus it’s not giving my bust the structure and hold that it needs for all day.
