With the cost of living crisis still gripping our pockets tightly, spending on non-essential items isn’t the top priority for many Brits. 

In fact, around 62 per cent of adults in the UK are said to be spending less due to the increase in the prices of our shopping, according to the Office for National Statistics.

This is why many Brits are now turning to purchasing second-hand products that can be just as good as brand-new ones, but for a fraction of the price. 

Due to this, in popularity as the cost of living crisis has pushed more people to visit them and see what bargains they can grab.

With Christmas only a few months away, many Brits are looking to be as frugal as they can with their money, including Rachel Ellis, also known as on TikTok. 

She took to her social media page to share a video of her heading to a car boot sale, and it has since gone viral with over one million views.

She managed to come across super cheap beauty, home, and fashion buys for as little as 50p. 

Rachel found one stall selling brand-new makeup products, including No7, Morphe, and Elf creams, powders, lip products, and foundations.

She says: “This makeup store was amazing. All brand new products for £5.”

The savvy buyer also came across carpet cleaners, which were sold for £20, and boxes filled with Amazon goods selling for 50p - Rachel bought a black claw clip. 

She says: “If you had a good rummage, there were some right bargains in there. 

“I actually bought this claw clip. I thought the bow was really cute on it.”

Rachel also came across other accessories including handbags, sunglasses, and childrens bedroom and beauty accessories. 

She says: “Loads of shoes and handbags, I found at this car boot.”

Other items included a bright pink bag from River Island, DKNY sliders, as well as UGG dupes, electric toothbrushes, Lego and Cath Kidston phone case. 

Rachel says: “I found at this car boot that there are a lot of stalls that sell brand new products.”

'Omg Brilliant'

She attended the Rhyl car boot, which is in North Wales and is on every Saturday and Sunday with a £1 entry if you go after 9am. 

For those who want early access between 8am till 9am, it is a £5 entry. 

Rachel’s video gained over 128,000 likes, with 502 people rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts. 

One shared her thoughts on buying beauty products at a car boot, by writing: “I never trust the makeup because why and how do they have that much and why are they selling it for so cheap.”

However, one car boot seller replied: “I buy it from the warehouse.” 

A regular added: “I go there every Sunday.”
