Not only this, but the man, who explained that he has had a vasectomy so wouldn’t be having more children, even shared that he wants to get married to his 38-year-old cousin.
The man took to social media to open up on the situation, leaving many open-mouthed.
Posting on Reddit, on the thread, the man wrote under the username @onaccountofthetruth and titled his post ‘I’m sleeping with my cousin.’
He then explained: “I’ve been sleeping with my cousin for the last seven months.
“Three years ago my wife and son passed away in an accident. My cousin who lived with her mum stayed with me for a few months to help me out.
“During that time nothing explicit happened but we found ourselves snuggling while watching movies and one night we fell asleep on the couch together. We both sort of just laughed it off.
“About eight months ago my maternal aunt passed away and I offered to help my cousin sell her mum’s house for her to stay with me for a while.
“We quickly fell into a home routine and found a lot of joy with each other.
“One night we had the right mix of wine and Sci-Fi shows and ended up kissing and making out like teenagers and slept in the same bed that night.
“The next day we said we shouldn’t pursue this and just leave it alone.”
But things quickly progressed, as the anonymous man confirmed: “We had sex that night and almost every night since then.”
Can I marry my cousin in the UK?
ACROSS the globe, more than 10 percent of marriages are between first or second cousins.
In the UK, there’s no legal bar to two cousins having a relationship.
That means that if end up falling for the children of your aunts and uncles, there’s nothing stopping you from eventually tying the knot.
If you’re over the age of 18, you can do this without the consent of your legal guardian or parent.
First-cousin marriages were once quite common in Europe, especially among the elite.
Despite this, the dad shared that his cousin wouldn’t get pregnant, as he added: “I have a vasectomy and neither of us have a desire at our ages to have babies and the only family alive other than us is her father who hasn’t been involved with her life since she was a teen.”
As well as this, the social media user concluded: “We are looking at actually moving and getting married; we do wonder if this ‘secret’ will be an issue in the long run.”
REDDIT USERS REACT
Reddit users were left gobsmacked by the man’s confession and quickly flocked to the comments to share their thoughts.
But social media users were left totally divided by the unique situation – whilst some didn’t see an issue, others thought it was ‘gross’.
The intimacy doesn’t hurt anyone – have fun

One user said: “I mean, since you cannot nor are the two of you interested in making babies, I don’t see anything wrong personally. But yeah, you guys do need to be careful revealing you’re blood-related. Good luck.”
A second agreed: “You both went through rough times, you were there for each other, you grew close, you became intimate, the intimacy doesn’t hurt anyone – have fun.”
Gross as s**t. You wife and daughter would be ashamed

Whilst someone else explained: “That’s completely normal in a lot of cultures, including mine. If you’re looking to move, you’ll find no shortage of places where you’ll feel comfortable.”
At the same time, one person joked: “Call TLC and get your own show.”
Another added: “It’s definitely considered odd and morally wrong.”
A third commented: “Gross as s**t. You wife and daughter would be ashamed.”
In response to Reddit users’ comments, the author later wrote: “To answer a few questions we are first cousins – our mums were sisters.
“Speaking with two lawyers, our state wouldn’t allow marriage; however since we are not direct ancestors or descendants of each other and well past the age of consent, the sex is not illegal.”
