I suffered from hair loss but it’s growing back – how often you should really wash your locks & why you should skip oil
Including why you should never skip drying your tresses after showering
A MUM has spilled the beans on how she finally got her tresses to grow back after struggling with hair loss – and why using oil may not be such a good idea.
On average, we lose anywhere from 50 to 100 hairs every day, but we don’t tend to notice as these strands are usually replaced with new hair.
However, hair loss is completely different and can be very distressing, having a negative impact on your confidence.
There are just as many reasons why you may be experiencing thinning tresses as there are products to tackle it – but now one mum, Doctor Shireen, has taken to TikTok to reveal how she got her mane to grow back.
The brunette beauty, who works as a GP for the NHS, said she saw a trichologist when she began noticing hair loss – and was given loads of useful information she’s since shared on .
”What she taught me has really helped. You can see here, my hair throughout my entire hairline is growing,” Doctor Shireen proudly showed off the ”amazing” results in .
How often you should REALLY wash your tresses
Before seeing the whizz, the mum said she was ”super proud” of the fact she only needed to wash her hair once a week, sometimes even once every ten days.
However, during the appointment, the trichologist informed her ”that it’s probably one of the worst things” she could be doing – and that to see change, she should instead up the routine game by washing it every other day.
Despite having two kids and a hectic lifestyle, Doctor Shireen implemented the change and her tresses have become ”used to it”.
Skipping drying your locks – a big no-no
Drying your hair after you’ve come out of the shower is a task many of us dread – after all, it can be pretty time-consuming.
But according to the expert, it’s a must, especially if you have a dry and flaky scalp.
”She said that the moisture after I’ve washed my hair and my hair is wet is like a breeding ground for the fungi and things that really contribute to a flaky scalp.
”So she said always blow-dry, at least your scalp, straight away.”
Skip the oiling
As controversial as it may sound, but the trichologist also advised the mum-of-two to stop oiling her tresses if she wants to tackle hair loss for good.
The hair pro explained ”that the oil really clogs up a lot of the pores”.
”Maybe because my specific concern was a flaky scalp, she was like ‘Don’t do that’,” said the beauty who hasn’t oiled her beautiful locks in six months.
”You guys might find some of this advice controversial and against everything you’ve ever been taught – but the proof is right here, this is nuts.”
