But this UK first aid cupboard staple has many more uses than people think.

And it could be a saviour for beauty fans struggling with an outbreak on their face or stubborn blackheads.

Spots and blackheads are caused by blocked pores which may become red and inflamed with a visible ‘whitehead’ caused by bacteria.

Speaking exclusively to Fabulous, Savlon bosses revealed that their products help spots heal quicker - and can reduce the chances of scarring.

In particular, Savlon Scar Prevention Gel can help to get your skin blemish-free again.

The team at Savlon said: "Alongside treating with Savlon Antiseptic Cream, it’s best to cleanse your face with lukewarm water and wash your hands thoroughly beforehand to avoid spreading further bacteria to your face.

"Don’t forget – ignore the temptation to squeeze or pick spots as it can often make them worse and lead to scarring.

"It will also allow them to heal quicker and reduce the likelihood of
scarring in the first place."

And some skincare fanatics have already admitted that Savlon is their go-to product for outbreaks.

A beauty influencer, Artemis, hailed the antiseptic cream as her "holy grail" for healing her spots quicker.

She added: "You put this on literally your spot that's coming through or if it's a spot that you've just popped and this heals it almost instantly.

Another skincare fanatic echoed: "I’ve been using Savlon for ages and I’m so glad someone said it! It works so well!"

A third added: "I use both Savlons and they work amazingly! In fact the normal one works well as a primer."

"This stuff is amazing for everything", gushed a fourth.

With prices for Savlon starting from as little as £1.75 in B&M, this underrated gem works out as a very cheap skincare buy too.

Savlon bosses also revealed that their products can be used to treat sunburn.

Contending with sunburn is something everyone will be familiar with, and arguably one of our least favourite parts of the summer season.

But Savlon Antiseptic Cream can help it to heal quicker.
