From Kylie Kit to neat finisher – we test three new longwear liquid lipsticks
WITH party season already in full swing, a non-negotiable for me at this time of year is a lipstick that doesn’t budge, so I put three new longwear liquid lipsticks to the test . . .
Budget
L’Oreal Paris Matte Resistance Lipstick, £11.99 for 5g, superdrug.com –
Let’s start with the positives.
I love the tear-shaped applicator, as it means you can really line the edges of your lips for a neat finish without needing a lip liner.
I also really like the colour pay off, as one swipe was plenty, but I found the colour started to crack after a few hours, and you have to completely remove it before reapplying or it looks congealed and cakey.
It’s a great lipstick to wear for a few hours, but not ideal for long periods of time.

Mid-range
Kylie Cosmetics Plumping Powder Matte Liquid Lipstick, £21 for 3ml, lookfantastic.com – Kylie Jenner’s Cosmetics range put liquid lipsticks on the map back in 2015 with the launch of Kylie Lip Kits, so I was expecting great things.
It combines the tingling sensation of a plumping lip gloss and the staying power of a matte lipstick, which is something completely new to me.
The combination left my lips feeling dry by the end of the day, but I didn’t need to touch up once and I even ate pizza for lunch.
So if you want something low- maintenance (and can deal with the tingling) then this tops the lot.

Luxury
Bobbi Brown Luxe Matte Liquid Lip, £36 for 6ml, boots.com – This undoubtedly looks the best, with a metallic gold tube that screams luxury.
Despite the premium price tag, I found the staying power was the worst out of the three – and it was long gone by the advertised eight-hour wear.
It didn’t imprint on my glass, and was the most comfortable thanks to the combination of vitamin E, castor oil and hyaluronic acid, which stop it feeling drying, so you’ll have to weigh up what’s the most important to you.
