The only thing that is not acceptable is shunning decorations, according the rather irate neighbour of one man.

Taking to Reddit, the man shared a snap of the letter he had received from someone on his street, accusing him of being a ‘Grinch.’

The letter read: “Congratulations! You have won the Bah Humbug award!!!!

“Because you chosen to be a GRINCH, and not put up Christmas lights, you have disappointed children, you and old in your community! (sic).”

The letter goes on to advise their neighbour that LED lights are inexpensive and they are available in second hand shops.

“I’m sure cost is not an issue and is more about being too busy with your devices than anything else!” they add.

“Do you remember when you were a child and saw all the christmas lights on your street? What happened?

“Next year do better and bring a smile to those in need…  but remember you still have time.”

The letter went on to tell the man that he didn’t need to go for just Christmas lights as putting them up for ‘other faiths counts.’

Fellow redditors were left flabbergasted by the letter, sharing their thoughts in the comments.

“Anyone else read this in the Karen voice in their head?” added a second, while a third wrote, “Even if I had a big box of lights something like this would stop me from putting them up…”

Another wrote: “Someone’s neighbor needs to mind his own business. I doubt lights ever go up now.”
