A PAIR of cleaning-daft mums have revealed their simple hack to eliminate odours from stinky hoovers – and it only costs £1.

Hazel Mckinnie and Claire Jenkins – better known as the  – regularly shares tips to get your home sparking on social media, where they boast 98,000 followers.

The duo have their own cleaning business and launderette, so definitely know a thing or two about cleaning tricks and handy buys.

In a recent post, the cleaning experts responded to a follower who asked if they could use tumble dryer sheets to to help with their “smelly” hoover filter.

“You probably can but that’s an expensive way of doing it”, the duo said.

Instead, the cleaning pros suggest using bicarbonate of soda which can be picked up in Tesco for as little as 65p.

Claire said: “It’s like £1. You lift out your filter, put a wee bit of that [bicarbonate of soda] in it – this stinks as well, it smells of dog – and that eliminates all your odours.

“It’s fantastic. It’s got a hundred and one uses around the house.”

Hazel added: “That is the best £1 you will ever spend out of your Home Bargains or wherever.

“Laundry stains, hoover, smells, everything. We use it on a daily basis. Absolutely fantastic.”

Hazel and Claire’s handy clip has racked up more than 43,000 views so far.

One person gushed: “I’ve been using this for a few years great for white washing as well and it’s cheap, any supermarket.”

A second wrote: “I couldn’t live without bicarbonate soda. I use it on everything. I put Lenor scented balls in my filter too, house smells like a garden of flowers when hoovering.”

A third echoed: “I put scent boosters into the hoover bag.”

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “I’ve put laundry boots scents in my hoover bag when I replace it and on my it’s smells lovely.

Hazel and Claire run their own launderette and shop in Moffat, Dumfriesshire, called The Laundry Room.

The duo are also a viral sensation on TikTok () thanks to their cleaning hacks – with their videos earning them millions of views.
