Maura Higgins reveals she uses LUBE for a perfect wet look ‘do & it works wonders to keep wispy bits in place too

It's also easy to wash out at the end of the night

SHE'S not short of a few bob - especially as she's set to rake in an estimated £1.5 million off the back of her I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! appearance.

But Maura Higgins also knows how to bag a bargain, and is a big fan of using cheap hacks if they do the same job.

So when it comes to getting an on-trend 'wet look' hairdo, Maura explained that she's shunned pricey hair products in favour of an item you might find in your bedside table.

And that product is... lube.

The former Love Islander regularly shares pictures of herself on her social media pages, and recently posted a snap in which she showed off her enviable figure and "wet tresses".

People were quick to comment on the post, praising Maura's incredible look.

While others questioned just how she got her hair looking so perfect.

"Gosh would love to know how hairstyle was done?" one person wrote.

"OMG, the body… the hair!"; another gushed.

And Maura's hair stylist then took to the comments to reveal they'd actually used Ann Summers' Candy Floss Lickable Lube in her locks to get the finished look.

One of the benefits of using the Ann Summers lube is that it's water-based, meaning it's much easier to wash out at the end of the night.

It can also help give hair a "wet" appearance without drying it out, like gel might do.

And Maura isn't the only famous face to have tried out the lube hack.

Apparently, Megan Fox and Kim Kardashian have also used the trick for a wet look 'do.

After a TikToker went viral for "revealing" the hair hack, some other professional hairdressers tried it out.

With Joabe Vidal, who works as a hairstylist at luxury London salon Forbici Knightsbridge, telling : "It is entirely true that us celeb hairstylists use lube to create amazing wet hair looks.

"It doesn't damage the hair at all and lasts an extremely long time, which is why celeb hairstylists use it."

While Isobel Hinks, stylist at Brooklyn salon ARROJO, added that lube has a "similar consistency to frizz-fighting serums".

Hairstyles that are kind to your locks

  1. Loose Braids: Opt for loose, soft braids rather than tight ones to minimise tension on the scalp and reduce breakage.
  2. Low Ponytail: A low ponytail is less stressful on your hair compared to high, tight ponytails. Use a fabric-covered hair tie to avoid snagging.
  3. Messy Bun: A relaxed, messy bun can be both stylish and kind to your hair. Avoid pulling your hair too tightly and use gentle hair ties.
  4. Soft Waves: Embrace your natural texture or use heatless methods to create soft waves, reducing the need for damaging heat styling tools.
  5. Half-Up, Half-Down: This style keeps some hair pulled back while leaving the rest down, reducing the strain on your scalp.
  6. Headbands and Scarves: Using headbands or scarves can keep hair out of your face without causing damage, and they can be quite fashionable.
  7. Loose Plaits for Sleeping: Before bed, loosely plait your hair to prevent tangles and breakage overnight.

In that way, it could be used to keep wispy bits in place as well.

Joabe explained that his three-step approach starts off with using lube, before adding in gel and conditioner.

After spraying the hair liberally with water, he spreads lube all over it as a base.

He then mixes together gel and conditioner, and smooths it over the hair.

"I always like to include the conditioner as I think it nourishes the hair and avoids a 'sticky' look," he explained.

To finish off, he uses a shine spray, which makes it look even more "wet".
