For less than £22,000, Donna Hardy was able to buy a huge family home, a mini house, barns, a garage and an acre of land too

The savvy mother explained that the old house was very run-down.

Donna Hardy is now in the process of turning the mansion into her dream home, and she has even had new windows fitted.

Not only has Donna had the chimneys removed from her pad, but she is also on a mission to sort the ‘wonky’ barn roof out too.

Posting on social media, the proud grandmother, who intends on growing her own vegetables on her land, opened up about ditching life in England for Bulgaria, which has been described as the ‘perfect’ family holiday destination

She said: “We paid €26,000 [£21,565] for this house.

“But not only did we get this house, around the back there is another little mini house, there’s a massive barn, we have outbuildings, so the barn over there and we also have the garage, along with an acre of land.

“At the moment, as you can see, we are still trying to unpack a lot of stuff.”

Donna revealed that her family bought her house using the company Bulgaria Direct.

Although their property was affordable compared to the UK, where the average house price is £291,828, Donna claimed that buying a pad in Bulgaria would’ve been “a lot cheaper” if they were to have bought privately.

She confirmed: “Because it was the first time we were buying a house and we weren’t sure what we were doing, we wanted to be safe so we went through an estate agent.”

We lived in one of the UK's most expensive seaside towns but house prices were mental - so we saved £293k by packing up and moving abroad

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and has since racked up 1.6 million views.

Social media users were stunned at Donna’s cheap property and were keen to express this in the comments.

Moving house hacks

1. Declutter Before You Pack

Sort through your belongings and get rid of anything you no longer need. Donate, sell, or recycle items to lighten your load.

2. Create an Inventory

Make a list of all your items. This helps keep track of everything and ensures nothing gets lost in the move.

3. Use Quality Packing Materials

Invest in sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, and packing tape. This will protect your belongings during the move.

4. Label Everything

Clearly label each box with its contents and the room it belongs to. This makes unpacking much easier and more organized.

5. Pack a ‘First Day’ Box

Include essentials like toiletries, a change of clothes, snacks, and important documents. This will keep you from rummaging through boxes on your first day.

6. Take Photos of Electronics Setup

Before unplugging your electronics, take photos of the wiring setup. This will make it easier to reconnect everything at your new place.

7. Use Suitcases for Heavy Items

Pack books and other heavy items in rolling suitcases. This makes them easier to transport and reduces the risk of injury.

8. Colour-Code Your Boxes

Use different coloured stickers or markers for each room. This will help movers quickly identify where each box should go in your new home.
