HER approach to parenting might not be for everyone, but Jo Frost, who is better known as Supernanny, has shared some money-saving advice for parents.

The childcare pro, 54, took to Instagram to share her top tip, as she urged parents to "wise up".

In the post, Jo said parents should stop wasting money and "being fooled" by adverts for baby nappies.

Instead, she suggested they begin to potty train their little ones much sooner.

She also warned of a possible "power struggle" between young children and parents when potty training takes longer than usual.

"Diaper brands want your toddlers in nappies longer so you spend more money but helping your child ASAP with their developmental milestone should be your focus," she said in the post.

The British nanny urged mums and dads to "move forward" and getting the millstone out of the way sooner rather than later.

"Parents wise up, these companies are loving the excuses you make for why you haven't potty trained your child yet, the longer they stay in them the more they make," she wrote.

'I've been potty training children for four decades and never is it longer than a week if you are CONSISTENT.

"In fact if you're not it creates power struggles with your child," she added.

Even training nappies were a no-no for Jo, who warned children need to learn or else they could end up still in nappies in school

She explained: "Even those 'training pants' are pants! Parents you are being fooled.

"They look like underwear but feel like a diaper, so toddlers are in them longer because they feel LESS uncomfortable whilst you become complacent... and in the meantime your teachers are left trying to do a job you should be doing.

"Help your child asap move forward with this milestone for their sake."

Jo did share another tip for parents though.

She said: "Tip - when you commit you must be all in, so invest in a little travel potty because you can't change up when traveling in the car, it will delay the process."

Parenting website note that a child is considered to be late in potty training if they're three-years-old or more and still haven't mastered it after three months of effort.

The pros from the site note that there are some common causes, including "medical issues, resistance or refusal, and toilet phobia."

Meanwhile, Children's Bowel and Bladder  note the best time for parents to begin the potty training process is between 12 and 18 months.

After Jo shared her Instagram post many parents chimed in to share experience.

One wrote: "Unless something medically wrong, there is no excuse for a 4-5 year old to be in nappies. Again, this is for healthy children who haven't been diagnosed with any medical conditions."

And a second agreed: "Facts. All my kids were pooping in the potty at six months.

"They would hold the poop until I put them in the potty. The trick is to know their poop schedule & also look for signs that they need to poop."

How to save cash on nappies

BUYING nappies and other baby items can be an expensive task, but parents are just realising there's a trick that could save them cash.

If you've got a newborn or multiple little ones to look after, you can really see your outgoings go up.

One money saving mum was shocked to discover that she could have been saving money on nappies for years.

She posted her find on Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

The mum wrote: "If you haven't already and you have little ones still in nappies, then get the "Pampers Club App" downloaded.

"You can earn discount coupons and remember to use the code to redeem a £6 off coupon straight away."

She wasn't alone in discovering the deal, as the post racked up more than 30 comments from equally as surprised parents who were keen to share in the bargain.

One social media user wrote: "Wish I'd known about this when my boy was born."

Another tagged their friend and said: "Have you looked into this?!"

A third added: "Ohhh yes gonna give it a go!"

Essentially, each pack of Pampers nappies you buy has a code on the inside of the box, if you scan that code on the Pampers Club app you get a stamp.

The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or from the Google Play store on Android.

You get one point per nappy in a pack so the larger the packs, the more points you'll receive.

For example, if you scan a code inside a pack of 86 nappies, you'll receive 86 points.

You can then redeem your points for coupons to redeem at retailers such as TescoAsdaBootsMorrisons or Sainsbury's.

Plus, Pampers is currently offering £6 off Pampers nappies in Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Coop, or Boots.
