A HOME styling expert has revealed a £1 hack to transform your Christmas tree from bare and dodgy to fuller and more realistic.

The festive period can be an incredibly pricey time of year, with many struggling to budget for the cost of Christmas gifts, decorations and food and drink.

New figures from revealed that Brits spend an average of £660 and £1,150 a year on Christmas but with rising costs, many are likely to be cutting back costs this year.

So instead of forking out for a new Christmas tree, why not re-vamp your old one with this simple hack?

Artificial trees are a more economical option that buying a real tree every year, but they can get battered whilst in the loft, meaning that after a few years, they often end up looking sparse.

Thankfully, home styling expert Kirsty, from House of Haz, revealed that you can easily fix this, with just a bit of green tinsel.

Taking to TikTok, the DIY whizz said: "This £1 Christmas tree hack will up your slightly rubbish looking artificial tree into a bushy full tree.

"Green tinsel is my must have Christmas hack of the year… put it around your tension poles around your bannisters and through your tree to fill out those gaps."

In the video, Kirsty first showed off her sparse Christmas tree before wrapping the tinsel around it, threading it between each branch.

She then showed off the dramatic transformation, revealing that the tinsel had made the tree look so much bushier and more luxurious.

Kirsty then added some stunning decorations to the tree, and it was impossible to tell that just moments before it had looked sad and lifeless.

She revealed that she used five 2 metre lengths of green tinsel to put around her tree, which are priced at £1 each from B&Q.

Kirsty's () video has likely left many people impressed, as it has racked up over 54,000 views on the video sharing platform.
