Speaking to camera while demonstrating the trick, he says: “If you've got a washing machine and you're not doing this, you're going to cost yourself hundreds of pounds.
“What you want to do is empty the washing machine, make sure it's completely empty and then get yourself a towel.”
He explains that in order to perform the trick, you will have to lay the towel down in front of the machine to ensure it absorbs all the water.
The money-saving dad then shows that there may be a little compartment on the bottom corner of your washing machine, and in his case it was on the right side.
The dad then opened it up, and twisted it as he pulled it out and explained that it was the washing machine filter.
He says: “It's important to clean this filter once a month or more because it improves the longevity of your washing machine.

“Sometimes it's full of gunk like this one or it could even have hair bubbles trapped in beads or whatever's been in your family's pockets. There's even hair in this one.”
He uses a toothbrush and then washes it under the tap.
The dad also then also takes the draw - which takes the fabric conditioner - out and gives that a full clean as well.
The TikToker adds: “This is how we maintain our washing machine and stop us from spending hundreds of pounds on a new one.”
