The Prince of Wales even delivered a rare, poignant message to mark the occassion.

William dedicated his post to "the most incredible wife and mother", following her year undergoing preventative cancer treatment.

But it's not just William's heartwarming message that's got fans talking.

Princess Kate appears to have upgraded her hairstyle for the New Year, with a soft and meticulous wave.

The royal, whose long locks always look glossy and bouncy, is usually a fan of a blow dry look.

However, she seems to have adopted the Hollywood Wave as a new look for 2025 - as seen in her official birthday portrait and during a public outing to support NHS staff this week.

Top Scottish hair stylist Suzie McGill, Artistic Director of the award-winning , said the subtle change strikes a "perfect balance".

She said: "Kate Middleton's hair has long been the envy of many, and with her latest hairstyle, already referred to as 'The Royal Wave', she has elevated her signature look even further.

"This contemporary take on the classic 'Hollywood Wave' features soft, voluminous curls that are styled forward to frame her face.

"The result is a perfect balance, with each wave harmoniously styled to showcase the beautiful shine and health that Kate's hair is known for.

Speaking to Fabulous, Suzie McGill revealed how to achieve Princess Kate’s new hairstyle for 2025.

And hair prep is key, as she says: "Begin with freshly washed hair and apply a heat-protectant spray or serum.

"I recommend using a smoothing cream for this style to get that glossy smooth look, this will also help to hydrate the hair allowing for lots of healthy movement."

The next step is to blow dry your hair, as Suzie advises: "Dry your hair in sections using a round brush, starting at the roots and angling
upwards to create volume."

You should then use a large barrel curling iron - the "best styling tool to achieve this style of waves" - to curl your hair in sections.

Suzie adds: "Twist wrap in sections, ensuring that you curl each section outwards and away from your face. Hold for a few seconds, and then let go.

"After curling your hair, part it at the back and gently brush through.

"Then, using your fingers, push the hair forward towards your face to create a soft frame."

Finally, Suzie recommends applying a shine serum to add a "shiny glossy finish" then spray a light mist of a flexible hairspray to keep the waves in place.

The hair pro adds: "As mentioned, one of the factors that makes Kate’s hair always look so beautiful is how healthy it looks.

"To keep your locks in top condition deep conditioning treatment can add moisture to your hair and reduce moisture loss.

"It's recommended to use this weekly, but it can depend on your hair texture so it’s always best to check with your stylist."

Award-winning hairdresser Gemma Hill, who owns Luvely in Dalkeith, Midlothian, agreed that glossy hair is going to be a "big 2025 trend".

She added: "It all starts with the base using correct shampoo, conditioner and styling products to help create that glass finish on your hair."

And if you're looking to help your glossy hairstyle keep it's shape?

"Spray hairspray from the bottom of the hair upwards to hold and stop the shape from dropping", Gemma reveals.

KATE'S RETURN TO SPOTLIGHT

In the past 12 months Kate has been largely out of the public eye after having abdominal surgery last January followed by treatment for cancer.

But she announced in September that she had finished her chemotherapy treatment and is focusing on remaining cancer-free.

She said she was "looking forward" to being back at work and taking on a few more public engagements in the coming months.

William previously revealed Kate aims to step up her royal engagements in 2025.

He said: "I think hopefully Catherine will be doing a bit more next year, so, we'll have some more trips maybe lined up."
