How can I stop my thighs chafing in hot weather?
PAINFUL chafing between the thighs can put a sore edge on enjoying the second round of hot weather this August, and make dressing for the summer extra difficult.
Luckily, there are some solutions that are easier than you might think.
What can stop chafing?
Deodorant
Turns out, roll-on deodorant doesn't just serve one purpose during the sweltering summer months.
Woman have heralded the everyday hack "a miracle" and an otherwise inexpensive solution for the commonplace problem.
Not only is the deodorant cooling on hot, sweaty legs, it also soothes chafing by allowing legs to rub together more easily.
The product works by acting a lubricant to stop the skin rubbing.
It's less greasy than other products that promise to do the same job and means women don't have to wear tights when it's hot instead.
It will work even when the deodorant has dried as the products leaves a protective film over the skin. Winning.
Wearing loose clothing
It might sound obvious, but loose-fitting clothes like linen and cotton allow the air to flow through between your thighs, making it far less likely that you might get a grim rub.
Avoid synthetic fabrics that make you sweat more - swapping out your bed sheets for some made of a breathable fabric will also reduce any night-time sweating you're doing and means you start the day cooler and less likely to chafe from the off.

Talcum powder
Yet another use for this magic white powder appears to be for chafing.
Women have sworn that talcum limits how much you sweat, providing some sweet relief from the burn.
Creating a softer barrier between the skin on your legs with talcum powder will also help to reduce any stickiness that makes chafing extra painful.
Vaseline
In a similar way to how roll-on deodorant works, others swear by rubbing Vaseline on their sore bits to lubricate thighs and soothe the sore skin.
Keeping Vaseline in the fridge will also help soothe any redness or pain from chafing, and keep it fairly solid in the heat which makes for less wastage of the product.
Shorts and 'thigh bands'
Popping on a pair of shorts or leggings underneath a your bottoms is a great way to help the chafe, although this can be a bit hot in higher temperatures.
You can also buy special "thigh bands" - elasticated lace bands that you can move up and down your legs depending on where you chafe and hide under your clothes.
