Hospitality management pupil Gaia Rio, 19, managed to almost DOUBLE her weight following her battle with her eating disorder, which left her “basically dying”.

Worryingly, the teen's weight dropped to a just five stone 4lbs following the breakdown of her relationship with her ex-boyfriend.

As well as refusing to eat out, she restricted her diet to just plain salads and kept herself feeling full by guzzling water and tea.

When Gaia came to the realisation that her weight was holding her back, she decided it was time to change her life.

Now a healthy 10st 3lbs and a slim size 12, Gaia is finally happy in her own skin.

An anorexic woman who plummeted to four-and-a-half-stone and lived on 300 calories a day reclaimed her health by developing a passion for BODY BUILDING.

Sophie Gajnik, 24, from Melbourne, Australia, had always enjoyed sport from a young age but claims the pressure of university left little time for exercise, causing her to gain almost a stone in weight.

In a desperate bid to get back in shape, she started scrutinising her diet and exercising until she collapsed in exhaustion.

But it wasn't until her hair started falling out that she realised she needed to make a change.

Now, instead of eating lettuce and shunning fatty foods, Sophie polishes off chicken schnitzels and dozens of eggs in a bid to build muscle.

Today she weighs a healthy 10 stone and her new-found muscles mean she can squat an impressive 105kgs - the equivalent of almost four of her former anorexics selves.

An anorexic teen who survived on 20 calories a day and would get up in the middle of the night to exercise shared photographs of her inspiring recovery to help other sufferers.

Jodie-Leigh Neil’s eating disorder began in 2013 after her best friend died after suffering a cardiac arrest.

And in January 2015, she was admitted to hospital and put on a feeding tube after her weight plummeted to just 5st 5lbs.

After being told by doctors that she must “recover or die”, the 18-year-old from Yateley, Hampshire, conquered her fear of food, got her life back and has now reached a healthy weight of 9st 9lbs.

Hannah Koestler bravely shared snaps of her anorexia recovery to shed light on the “grim reality” of the devastating illness.

She admitted that at one stage she was living off three rice crackers a day and was the dress size of a 10-year-old child as her organs began to fail.

Where a healthy BMI (Body Mass Index) is between 18 and 24, Hannah dropped to 11, meaning she was dangerously underweight.

She was later admitted to intensive care at The Vienna General Hospital to kick-start her recovery.

Miraculously, Hannah is now back up to a healthy BMI of 19 and hopes her journey will encourage other sufferers to reach out.

Silvia Fascians, whose battle with the life-threatening eating disorder began at 18, used to make herself sick five times a day in a bid to counteract her binge-eating.

Constantly restricting her food portions and skipping meals caused Silvia’s weight to plummet to seven stone, leaving her with a worrying BMI of just 14.1.

The teen anorexic, who used to lie about her health by hiding weights in her underwear, believes that Instagram saved her life.

It wasn’t until Silvia stumbled across a picture of a fit-looking woman on the social media platform that she was spurred on to change her life.

After a couple of years of her new regime, Silvia has managed to put on two stone and regularly hits the gym with her brother.

A former anorexic won her fight with the eating disorder so she could jet off to Australia to work on an avocado farm.

Sophia Jansson, 26, from Stockholm, Sweden, started battling the life-threatening illness when she was just 12 years old.

The beautiful blonde, who now lives in Queensland, Australia, was a competitive gymnast and felt the pressure to stay slim for her sport.

After a back injury left her immobile for a month she restricted food to compensate and her weight dramatically dropped.

At her lowest weight, size six clothing hung off her.

With the help of her dedicated team at a health clinic, Sophia decided to give recovery another go - and she's finally been able to turn her life around.
