GONE are the days of perfecting smooth pouts as make-up fans have been going wild for a bizarre new trend dubbed “squiggle lips”.
Beauty addicts have been their lips into funky wavy or spiky lines, but not everyone is convinced by the unusual look.
The squiggle lip was first shared by YouTuber Lexington, who posted a FaceTuned image of her lips on Instagram with the caption, “new trend alert!”
Although the shot was clearly Photoshopped and a light-hearted joke, the spiky lips have caught on and actually inspired many to recreate the beauty look.
Numerous people have shared their wavy lips on their own social media pages and accentuated the look with bright lipsticks and liners.
While some are clearly Photoshopped, others have used clever tricks with make-up and concealer to pull it off.
Not everyone is a fan of the look, however, and took to Twitter to share their stunned reaction.
One said: “Y'all really out here rocking the lumpy space lips.”
Another uploaded a shot of zig-zag scissors and said: “Why do they think that every girl wants to look like she used a pair of these on her face???? My makeup is not an arts and crafts project.”
And one Twitter user wrote: “It looks like my 4 y/o niece when she got into her mother's makeup.”
However some of the Twitter users praised the bold look, with one saying: “I'm definitely on board.”
The look follows the “squiggle” eyebrows with brows shaped in wavy lines.
A number of Instagrammers attempted the look, with many pairing the look with bright eyeshadow shades and colourful lips.
And a titillating trend earlier this year saw women bejewel their boobs with sparkly studs.
Feather eyebrows are another recent beauty trend taking Instagram by storm.
The bold new look involves parting your eyebrows and splaying the hairs into a feather-like shape with the help of some Vaseline.
