Women are more likely to lose interest in sex if they move in with their boyfriend, expert warns
An expert claims that women go off sex when they cohabit with their partner because women take on more jobs at home
DON’T rush to shack-up — women are much more likely to lose interest in sex if they move in with their fellas, experts warn.
A study of 10,000 Brits aged 16 to 74 showed 39 per cent of women living with partners had little interest in love-making.
That compared with 23 per cent living separately.
Yet the gap was much smaller with men, where the figures were 16 and 12 per cent respectively.
Lead researcher Prof Cynthia Graham, of Southampton University’s Centre for Sexual Health Research, said running a household and becoming a mother can take its toll on women’s sex drives. She said: “The findings are intriguing.
“Women’s sex drives may fall when they co-habit due to fatigue. There is quite a lot of evidence of women taking on more at home than men.
“Also, people may make less effort on both sides.”
Prof Graham said women’s libido was more likely to recover if they found it easy to talk about sex with their partner.
She added: “For women in particular, the quality and length of relationship and communication with their partners are important in their experience of sexual interest.”
The study is published in the journal BMJ Open.
