Mum sparks a debate by judging a parent for giving her baby boy this name – but would YOU?

Mumsnet user is horrified by the tot's name but not everyone agrees

A HORRIFIED mum caused a heated debate after criticising parents over their choice of baby name.

The anonymous user took to the forum to blast the name Kaiser.

She asked if she was being unreasonable to “judge this baby’s name..or rather the parents that chose it.”

She added: “Overheard in the local shop a young girl (8ish) telling her friend that her new baby brother is being called....Kaiser. She wasn’t joking.”

The post got a mixed response with some agreeing that the name was “damaging.”

One wrote: “I'd judge yeah. I hate it when people give their kids names which may damage their future prospects. Someone I know has just called her baby boy Ozzy.”

Another wrote: “Maybe they are German speakers? Bloody awful name though.”

A third revealed: “On hols in Wales about 8 years ago there was a Jamiroquai (?) in Poundland....”

Some speculated where the name came from, suggesting it was unlikely to have been after the last German Emperor, Kaiser Wilhelm II, who was instrumental in the start of the First World War.

Pyongyangkipperbang added: “I just cannot imagine naming a kid after the honour title of the bad guy in WWI."

Ttbb answered: “That's actually a fairly common name-most people are so ignorant of history these days that they probably don't even get the connotations.”

Many pointed out it was more likely to be after the three-year-old son of Janelle Evans, the troubled star of US reality show Teen Mum 2.

HappyLollipop said: “It's one of those American names because there's a girl on teen mom called Jenelle whose son is named Kaiser which I think made it more popular too.”

Charolais said: “I live in the U.S. and some of the names here are hilarious. There was a woman named ‘Vendetta' on the TV yesterday.”

Others speculated that the parents might be fans of the Kaiser Chiefs, or even have Chief as a surname.

The debate about baby names is a common one on the parenting forum, with one woman recently being told her daughter would “hate” her if she called her daughter Felicia and then pronounced it “‘Fuh-liss-ee-a’ rather than like ‘Feleesha’.”

Earlier today the least popular baby names of 2017 were revealed.
