People have taken to Reddit to share the outrageous, hilarious and heart-breaking things they've overheard at funerals
PEOPLE are sharing the worst things they've heard at funerals with sometimes hilarious and sometimes heart-breaking results.
Hundreds of people replied to the shocking , responding to the question: "What's the worst thing you've heard someone say about the deceased at their funeral?"
The replies were very varied with some raising a chuckle and others a bit more disturbing.
One contributor said: "My very Christian grandmother who is in the beginning stages of dementia talked about how great my grandfather was in bed at his funeral.
"It was actually kind of sweet, but the timing wasn't great and I don't know how much her children wanted to hear about it right then."
Another person confessed to saying "well, being dead doesn't make him any less of an asshole," at the funeral of a friend.
While another Reddit user overheard someone saying: "He was the worst but at least he got the family together for this occasion."
One person shared the story of an unfortunate observation.
He said: "As my parents, my brother and I arrived at the crematorium to see my uncle off my Mum went 'Smells like a barbeque'."
But not all of the stories were recounted with such a light-hearted tone.
One person wrote: "My sister said, about her own 17 year-old son who committed suicide: 'I was going to throw him out when he turned 18, anyway'.
"I have actually never seen her happier - she was the centre of attention, everyone consoling her, people sending her flowers. It was so disturbing that words fail me."

While it was claimed another impatient funeral guest said: "F*** me, 2 hrs to bury a set of teeth because that's all that was left after the fire."
Another person explained that their uncle had been abusive to his parents and stole money from his children.
They explained: "This was the man who had abused my grandparents for drug money for years, stole from family members, faked cancer on multiple occasions to gain sympathy and broke down my grandma's front door when she didn't want to deal with him."
At the uncle's funeral he recalled the comments that were made including one from his mother: "It's for the best."
While another person claimed that they were shocked by the response of a daughter at her father's funeral.
They said: "Everyone stood up and spoke about how much they missed him and what a great man, friend, and leader he had been.
"His daughter stood up to speak last and said: 'I don't know who you people are talking about because my father was nothing like that to me my whole life'."
This phantom funeral crasher was "slammed for turning up to every memorial at her local church and swiping food" for 14 YEARS.
