TV host Stacey Solomon’s packed daily routine means she’s in bed by 9pm and doesn’t have time for lunch
Stacey Solomon’s hectic schedule of presenting and being a mum means she's usually in bed early
I’m one of those annoying people who loves the morning.
I wake up at 6am and I’m like: “Hello, world!” My youngest son Leighton, five, is an early riser, too, but my eldest, Zachary, nine, gets annoyed at how perky I am in the mornings.
We always eat breakfast together.
Meal times are important for spending time together.
Even if it’s just toast at 6.30am, we still have half an hour as a family, which is one of my favourite parts of the day.
Then I’ll drive the boys to my dad’s, who drops them at school, before I’m picked up by a driver at 7am for Loose Women.
I get to work with extremely strong, intelligent and kind women.
It’s a huge privilege. I usually arrive at the studio for 8am before heading straight into meetings about the topics we’ll be discussing, then hair and make-up. We go on air at 12.30pm. I love that it’s live and we have such a blast together.
By 2pm I’m starving, but don’t have time to stop.
I’ll grab lunch in the studio cafe and eat it on the way home before doing the school run.
People ask me if it’s hard being a mum and working in TV, but it’s just as difficult as working in an office.
Everyone’s trying to juggle raising a family with earning a living.
One part of you wants to always be at home with the kids, while the other knows that if you don’t work then there’s no one to pay the mortgage.
We always walk home from school together.
It’s a lovely time of day and we’ll stroll back and chat about our days. It’s nice to carve out some time to reconnect with my kids. When we’re home we’ll play some cards before I start making dinner and my boyfriend [TV presenter Joe Swash, 35], will come over. I wish I was one of those people who goes berry-picking or shops at the local organic farm, but I don’t have the time. Usually I’ll just whip up a shepherd’s pie or lasagne, then we’ll sit down for dinner at 6pm.
Bedtime is key in our house.
The boys are in bed for 7pm then I’ll have a nice relaxing bath with salts, which is heaven! If I’ve got 10 minutes I’ll go on Instagram, but I try to not spend too much time using it. I don’t let my children have iPads or social media, so it would be a bit hypocritical if I was scrolling all the time!
Once a month Joe and I have a date night.
We’ll get a babysitter and go out for dinner or to the theatre, just the two of us. It’s so much fun spending time as a couple, but when you’ve got kids and a job it’s a little out of reach. Plus, on a work night I’m usually in bed by 9pm as I get so tired. I’m not very rock ‘n’ roll!
