Generous ‘Rapunzel’ shaves her head and donates her 40in hair to raise almost £4,000 for charity

A YOUNG woman dubbed Rapunzel for her luscious long locks completely shaved her head for a cancer charity.
Terri-Louise Anderson, 29, hadn't cut her hair for 15 years when she took part in Macmillan's "Brave the Shave" campaign over the weekend.
The generous 29-year-old chose to chop off her three foot long locks and donate them to the Little Princess Trust - a charity who create wigs for sick children who have lost their hair whilst undergoing treatment.
She also managed to raise almost £4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by donating her stunning 40 inch blonde mane.
Terri-Louise, from Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, said: "It was a Macmillan coffee morning in July and my business partner and I were looking in to what more we could do.
"We spotted the 'Brave the Shave' online and she told me I should do it.
"At first I was like 'no way' but then I started to come round to the idea.
"I thought hard about how my hair defined me. I was always known as 'the girl with the really long hair'.
"Little girls would even stop in the street and say I was a princess because of my hair.
"And then I thought about what it would mean to a sick little girl. It made me determined to do it. I realised that image isn't everything."
Terri-Louise felt passionately about supporting the charity as her grandmother lost her battle with cancer last Christmas.
The pet-shop owner added: "I felt as though I really needed to do something. Everyone is affected by cancer.
"I lost my grandmother at Christmas and my step-mum is now suffering from stage four melanoma.
"My best friend's mum has also been diagnosed again, so it really is something that effects almost everyone in the world.

"I find it just heart wrenching. That is why I wanted to raise money for Macmillan.
"They don't just offer medical advice, the support they offer is incredible so raining money for them is so important.
"Now that I've done it, people have started to notice my face more - someone I knew didn't even realise I had a nose piercing.
"People have to actually look at the features of my face rather than my hair.
"I had a bob-cut until I was 12, and I was allowed to grow my hair how I wanted.
"From then it just grew and grew and grew for 15 years.
"I never went to the hairdressers and I wouldn't even let anyone near me with a pair of scissors.
"I didn't realise how long and heavy it really was until the plaits were lifted away from my head."
Terri is aiming to raise £100 for each inch of hair that was shaved off.
