Pampered pooch lives in the yap of luxury with £150 BMW and £500 a month beauty regimen
Web designer Alicia Butler spends a quarter of her annual income on designers clothes and beauty treatment for Yorkshire terrier, Esme
SHE has a BMW, a wardrobe of designer dresses and a diary rammed with hair and beauty appointments.
But high-roller Esme is not a glam reality TV wannabe. She’s a Yorkshire terrier puppy — spoilt rotten by owner Alicia Butler.
Web designer Alicia, 41, splashes £500 a month — a quarter of her income — on spoiling her little whipper-yapper something rotten.
Esme even joins Alicia and her computer analyst husband Marc, 39, on meals out and holidays and often sleeps between them at night.
Alicia, who has no children, says: “Marc and I see Esme as our child. She sleeps in her own bed in our room at night, but if she cries she sleeps between us.
“She also has a pink chaise longue in our living room so is comfy when we all watch TV. She’s my No1 priority.”
Esme’s £150 mini electric BMW matches Alicia’s own full-size one — and other treats include a £100 Swarovski lead and collar, £40 high chair and £260 of toys.
Alicia, of Hemel Hempstead, Herts, says: “I only dress her in designer clothes — Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren. Every day I pick a pretty dress or jumper with matching bow and jewellery. One outfit is £75.
“She comes with me everywhere, in her £100 leather carry bag. When I go by train, she travels first-class with me. I take her for monthly £35 sessions at the dog salon where she’s groomed from head to tail.
“She has her teeth and nails done, as well as a shampoo and blow-dry — I can’t even afford all that for myself.
“We then celebrate her new ‘do’ at home with Pawsecco — dog-friendly fizz — and a cupcake. My husband thinks I’m a bit over the top — but he doesn’t have a choice.”
