THIS couple transformed their cramped flat into a two-storey house in just one year - but not everyone's impressed with the finished result.
Paramedic Nick and midwife Sonia asked for presenter George Clarke's help on last night's episode of Ugly House To Lovely House.
Their flat in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, was awkwardly placed about three carports - but came with a huge back garden, which proved to be helpful in transforming the home.
Crafty architects Abigail Ashton and Andrew Porter spent £94,000 building a ground floor extension in the couple's garden - adding 60sqm of space.
But Channel 4 viewers were NOT impressed with the aggressive black cladding - with many suggesting the home was even "uglier" now than before.
Viewer Jade tweeted: "If it wasn’t ugly before... it is now", while Rachel wrote: "I'm sorry, but that black cladding is awful".
Serena said it had "gone from ugly house to uglier house".
Topov1981 joked: "If George Clarke ever comes anywhere near my home, I'll call the police", while FatGrev said: "Should've gone to spec savers".
And Phil Appleby wrote: "Next week on #uglyhouse we take this week's house and try again."
Nick and Sonia bought the flat for £175,000 back in 2010.
Sonia told Channel 4 cameras: "If I’m totally brutally honest with myself I think it’s really embarrassing.
"We’re just a front door behind a tree, it’s not even a proper house."
While the architects agreed the design was "stupid".
