We rate celebrity lingerie ranges from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Kelly Brook and Myleene Klass — as there’s always one on hand to help you choose
Our Fashion Editor Gabriele Divanauskas takes a look back at some of the celebrity ranges and rates each of them out of five
DON’T get your knickers in a twist buying lingerie – there’s normally a celeb or two to help you out.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s range for M&S is so popular that one in 50 women own a bra from her collection.
These collaborations should be a win-win – the celebs get a chance to show off their bodies, while retailers rake in new customers from their fan bases.
But some hook-ups do it better than others. Fashion Editor GABRIELE DIRVANAUSKAS looks back at celebrity ranges and rates them out of five.
Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley for Autograph at M&S
SUPERMODEL Rosie, 30, has transformed the brand from your nan’s knicker drawer fave to a top destination for luxury lingerie.
They mark their fifth anniversary together this year.
It is estimated that one in 50 women own one of Rosie’s bras and she has shifted 11million pieces of underwear in total.
Prices start at £12.50 for a pair of knickers and go up to £30 for a bra in sizes 6-28 and 30C-40G.
VERDICT - 5/5: “Rosie’s designs are my favourite on the high street. The stylish sets look sexy but are still comfortable enough to wear every day.”
Caprice by Caprice
AMERICAN model Caprice, 45, began with Debenhams in 2001 before investing £263,000 in her own label in 2006.
Oddly, she enlisted Towie’s Ferne McCann, 27, to model some of her range.
Prices start from £15 for a thong and £36 for bras in sizes 8-16 and 30A-38G.
VERDICT - 1½/5: “Good entrepreneurial spirit but her time in the fashion world is over. Her website is out of date and her designs are tacky.”
Rita Ora at Tezenis - 2 1/2
NO wilting wallflower, singer Rita, 26, is the perfect celeb to snap up for an undies campaign.
But she loses points for not designing the pieces herself.
Launched in 2015, the collaboration is still going strong.
Prices start at £6.99 for briefs and go up to £25.99 for a body in sizes from 8-16 and 32A-40E.
VERDICT - 2½/5: “Affordable but sizing is confusing – and some bras only go up to 38B.”
Heidi Klum at heidiklumintimates. com/figleaves.com
THERE must have been some hair pulling in the supermodel world in 2015 when the Bendon-owned Intimates range dropped Elle Macpherson after 25 years in favour of Heidi.
But the German model, 44 – who says she has a colour co-ordinated lingerie drawer – continues to be a big hit with women shoppers.
Prices start at £12 for knickers and go up to £70 for a chemise in sizes 10-16 and 32A-38G.
VERDICT - 4/5: “She’s a better woman than me, claiming she wears matching undies every day. Designs are chic but don’t cater for sizes bigger than a 16.”
Kelly Brook for New Look
CURVY model Kelly, 37, spent eight years with the chain, designing clothes as well as lingerie – and helped sales leap by 24 per cent.
But she was ditched in 2014, reportedly due to the fall-out from her break-up with Gladiator Tornado, aka David McIntosh. Don’t put bros before bras, Kelly.
Prices started at £3.99 for briefs and went up to £14.99 for bras in sizes 8-18 and 34B-36G.
VERDICT - 3/5: “Brownie points for catering all the way up to a G cup and for New Look’s usual affordable prices. But the overly stylised designs – polka dots, hearts and stripes – could be tacky.”
Katie Price for George at Asda
ONE of the most questionable collaborations – just what was the family-friendly supermarket thinking?
Asda signed glamour girl Katie, 39, for a whopping £1.5million in 2006 but ditched her three years later due to her messy divorce from Peter Andre.
But she did help boost its clothing share to 9.5 per cent of the UK market. Prices started at £5 for a thong and went up to £16 for bras in sizes 8-16 and 32D-38G.
VERDICT - 1/5: “No one should want to dress like Katie Price. I’m surprised the deal lasted as long as three years. Luckily for the supermarket, it saw sense and shook her off.”
Geri Halliwell for Next
GERI, 45, added a bit of spice to Next when she designed and modelled her lingerie six years ago.
Before the world became obsessed with Kim Kardashian, the former Spice Girl said: “My aim was to make boobs look bigger and bums smaller.”
Designed from 2011-2012, prices started at £12 for briefs and £24 for bras in sizes 8-18 and A-DD cup.
VERDICT - 2/5: “Despite helping up Next’s sales, Geri was a one-hit-wonder. Kudos to Next for enlisting Geri when she was 39 – much older than most lingerie models you see these days.”
Myleene Klass for Littlewoods.com
MUM-of-two Myleene, 39, says her racy designs are for women to feel good in and for men to admire.
Her range started in 2012 and has included racy red, leopard print and lacy black sets. Her next collection is set to go on sale in December.
Prices start at £6 for briefs and go up to £35 for a babydoll nightie. Sizes 8-18 and 32B-38E.
VERDICT - 4/5: “A match made in heaven. Myleene is stunning but also approachable. Her killer body has certainly helped breathed some life into Littlewoods.”
