This is the one food all blokes should eat MORE of to have better sex
Research suggests that a lack of zinc is a contributing factor to a poor sex drive and even infertility
HAVE you been feeling a little flat in the bedroom lately?
Perhaps you're too tired and just don't feel like getting down and dirty.
Well, you could have a zinc deficiency.
But before you panic, there's one thing you can eat to get yourself up and at 'em again in the sack: red meat.
Research suggests that a lack of zinc is a contributing factor to a poor sex drive and even infertility.
Zinc helps the body maintain normal levels of the male sex hormone, testosterone.
Testosterone is responsible for a man's sexual characteristics - the hair on his chest and face, the size of his penis and, you guessed it, his performance in the bedroom.
So when the mineral that helps maintain the levels of testosterone starts to fall it has a knock-on effect in the bedroom.
But red meat like pork, beef and lamb are excellent sources of zinc.
Emma Derbyshire, a nutritional insight researcher, said: "For males, zinc is a vital nutrient to help maintain normal levels of testosterone in the system.
"Without it, both sex drive and fertility could be seriously impacted, with a host of other negative repercussions occurring as well.
"Whilst a lack of zinc can cause some serious problems, the solution is very simple.
SEX CLUES This is how much sex you SHOULD be having… according to your age
"Red meat such as pork and lamb are some of the best sources of zinc, and boosting your daily consumption of these meats will allow you to hit your recommended daily zinc intake."
Men who have a zinc deficiency may find they are more mentally exhausted than usual, have a decreased sense of smell and taste have a weaker immune system.
A lack of zinc can also cause their sperm to swim slower, leading to infertility.
Zinc is vital in the production and mobility of sperm as well as the strength it needs to make it to a woman's egg.
If the sperm can't do this it severely impacts a man's chances of getting his partner pregnant.
So how much zinc does a man need?
Men need to eat at least 9.5mg of zinc per day.
Just 100 grams of beef contains about 12.3mg of zinc - so you've eaten the recommended amount in just one meal.
And 100 grams of lamb contains about 4.67mg, so you don't need to eat much to reach your daily amount.
A zinc deficiency can also lead to a range of other problems like poor skin, hair and nails, poor circulation, poor bone growth, and problems with your blood sugar.
So if you want to spice up you love life and maintain a healthy lifestyle fire up the barbecue or pop a roast on and get some red meat down you.
