Starbucks coffee has as much sugar as SEVEN donuts including 69g in just the festive frapp — find out if your favourite coffee is listed
Starbucks says that customers can reduce the amount of sugar by customising their drinks
STARBUCKS is selling festive coffees with as much sugar in as seven chocolate doughnuts.
A grande Gingerbread Frappuccino with whipped cream contains 68.5g — 16.3 teaspoons.
That equates to 6.8 chocolate doughnuts from McDonald’s which each contain 10g of sugar, our study shows.
A venti Eggnog Latte has 56.3g of sugar, the equivalent of 13.4 teaspoons or 5½ chocolate doughnuts. Grande and venti are the chain’s largest sizes for cold and hot drinks respectively.
Lucy Jones, of the British Dietetic Association, said: “Festive coffee drinks can seem a harmless choice compared to a mince pie.
"But regular consumption could have big implications for waistlines, teeth and chronic disease.”
The Government says over-11s should not exceed 30g of sugar a day.
The British Dental Association said: “It’s alarming you can hit the maximum daily dose in just one cup.”
Starbucks said it had cut the sugar in its Christmas range by a third since 2014. It pointed out customers could reduce it further by customising their drink.
