HE broke hearts as the cute, little boy on the John Lewis advert who was more excited to give Christmas presents to his family than get them himself.
But now Lewis McGowan, who starred on the 2011 The Long Wait advert, has grown up and looks completely unrecognisable.
When Lewis starred as the restless boy who was counting down the hours to Christmas day, he was just seven years old.
Now the adorable schoolboy is 12 and has branched out into the world of acting, starring in a massive blockbuster movie this year alongside Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp.
The Primary 7 pupil from Hamilton plays Orlando’s son in the new Pirates Of The Caribbean film Salazar’s Revenge, which hit cinemas in May.
He said: “Ever since I was a little boy I’ve loved the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies.
“Johnny and Orlando are really nice. Orlando was running lines with me and Johnny took 30 minutes with me to talk.
“He said ‘What do you want to be when you’re older?’ and I said an actor. He said I was already an actor!”
Lewis plays a 12-year-old version of Henry Turner, the son of Bloom’s swashbuckler Will, in Salazar’s Revenge.
Dad Stuart and mum Julie run an acting school at the Hamilton-based UK Screen Acting Academy, but say it was a shock for the whole family when Lewis got the call from Disney movie bosses — and landing the role after auditioning on Skype.
It isn’t the only big production he has starred in.
He has also appeared in two episodes of Doctor Who this year, The Eaters of Light and Oxygen, and next year will appear in TV show The Alienist.
And Lewis isn’t the only budding star in the family — brother Conor is into movies too.
Lewis’ dad Stuart said earlier this year: “His older brother Conor is 17 and he’s about to start university doing film-making and screenwriting, so he’s more behind the camera and creative on that end.
“When they were younger Conor would have the video camera and Lewis would play a zombie — that’s how it all started.”
This year's John Lewis advert, featuring Moz the monster under the bed, has just been released.
Opinion has been divided, as some viewers have slammed the ad's "confusing" storyline.
