Meghan, like her yoga-instructor mum, Doria Ragland, is a Protestant.
Her father Thomas is a member of the Episcopal Church of the United States and is an Episcopalian, which is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Meghan, who divorced film producer Trevor Engelson in 2013, will be allowed to marry in a church after the Archbishop of Canterbury gave the couple his blessing.
Meghan and Prince Harry will have a full church wedding and not a civil ceremony followed by a blessing, like divorcees Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The American actress will be making a lot of changes as she prepares to marry Prince Harry, and it’s not just leaving her TV show Suits after seven years.
According to the Daily Mail and confirmed in the Church of England by the Archbishop of Canterbury in March at the Chapel Royal.
This isn’t unusual as Kate Middleton was also confirmed before marrying Prince William in 2011, although the Duchess was baptised as a baby.
Prince Harry’s fiancé did not need to become an Anglican to marry him in a church however she is understood to have chosen to do so out of respect for the Queen’s role as head of the Church of England.
Harry was christened in St George's chapel in 1984 at three months old.
According to Church of England rules, that means he can wed there.
Meghan being baptised and confirmed will be seen as a nod towards the Queen's strong faith and her role as Supreme Governor of the Church of England.
Did she attend a Catholic school?
Although she is a Protestant, she was educated at a Catholic school called Immaculate Heart High School, which is an all-girls, private school in Los Angeles.
Now she is marrying Prince Harry, she will study to be a British citizen and take the citizenship test “in due course”.
The couple has said they want a “fun and joyful” wedding and it would be “safe to assume it would be televised” as they wanted to involve their millions of well-wishers.
Can divorcees marry in a church?
Around 42 per cent of marriages in England and Wales end in divorce, according to the Office for National Statistics’ 2016 figures.
And a quarter of marriages are with people who are divorcees.?
The Church of England did not officially permit remarriage after divorce from the 17th century, but this has been relaxed somewhat in the 21st century.
In 2002, the General Synod, the church's legislative body, permitted remarriage in church for divorced people whose partners were still alive, but only in "exceptional circumstances".
Permission must be granted by a Priest who must ensure couples have a “mature view” of the breakdown of their marriage, and understand divorce is a breach of God’s will for the union.
Some couples, like the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, may opt for a service of prayer and dedication following a civil ceremony.
In the Church of Scotland, divorcees have been permitted to get married again since the church law was changed in 1959.

When will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get married?
It was initially announced that Prince Harry and Meghan will get married in May 2018.
After much anticipation, we now know that they will tie the knot on May 19.
The wedding venue, St George's Chapel, is situated in the grounds of Windsor Castle - where the Queen and Prince Philip live for most of the year - and is cheaper than a London wedding as well as being easier to secure.
The last royal wedding there was for Harry’s cousin, Peter Philips — Princess Anne’s son.
He married Canadian Autumn Kelly in 2008.
Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones also married there in 1999.
