Magician Dynamo talks his daily battle with Crohn’s disease and still getting star-struck
A regular day for the 34-year-old involves escapes to the cinema after the lights go out so no one recognises him
TWENTY-four hours with the Magician Dynamo, 34, can involve being star-struck over stars like Brad Pitt and enduring his daily battle with Crohn's disease.
When he's not staying up late coming up with new magic tricks, Dynamo says his escape is going to the cinema or jamming out to Tinie Tempah in his car.
My dog Bunty wakes me up every morning at 8am.
She’ll lie on me until I let her out for a wee.
Sounds cute, but she’s a Newfoundland and weighs 9st, even though she’s still a puppy.
Once I’ve let her out I’m up for the day.
I often have a lot of stomach pain because I suffer from Crohn’s disease, so I take medication before breakfast.
All my food is specially prepared.
Because of my illness I can’t eat dairy, gluten, fats or a lot of vegetables.
So for breakfast I’ll have something like a tuna sandwich with gluten-free bread and mayonnaise.
Once, I had popcorn for a snack and spent two weeks in hospital.
If I’m out all day I bring my meals in Tupperware boxes.
I love to drive.
I’ll generally have a TV appearance or a photo shoot at 10am.
I jump in my car to get to any appointments, and my journey gets me geared up for the day.
I listen to music really loudly and do my best karaoke impressions to warm my voice up.
My singing is awful, but no one can hear me! Tinie Tempah’s Pass Out always gets me going.
Creating new magic tricks is my favourite thing.
After lunch at 1pm, which is often grilled chicken with peeled, boiled potatoes, I head to Dynamo HQ in London.
That’s where I make all of my Instagram videos and TV shows with my team in the studio.
If I was Sherlock Holmes, they’d all be my Dr Watsons.
They help me come up with new ideas and plan my shows.
Some days I’m there until 10pm.
People always ask me to do tricks.
On a normal day, I’ll head home at 7pm to spend time with my wife Kelly.
If I have to pop to the shop for something, I’ll usually get stopped by someone.
But I’m not moaning because I’ve spent 20 years trying to get everyone to want to see my tricks.
It’s a dream come true.
I still get star-struck.
Most nights I’ll head back out at 8pm to do a performance or a show – that’s my bread and butter.
It can be anything from a 13 year old’s bar mitzvah to a celeb-filled gig at the 02 Arena.
Last year, Brad Pitt came to meet me after a show and told me he was a huge fan and loved watching all my tricks online!
His kids were there, too, and they were embarrassed at how excited he was, which was so funny.

Going to the cinema is my escape.
If I’m not performing then it’s where I’ll be, sneaking in after the lights go down so no one recognises me.
I’ve also got a cinema room in my house in Hampstead.
I always have every intention of getting to bed early, but it ends up being 1am.
Ideas for new tricks always pop into my head when I’m in bed, so I’ll jump up to jot them on my iPad, which drives my wife mad!
