Bizarre social media trend sweeping Taiwan and China features women showing how to eat after applying red lipstick

The My Big Mouth Never Stains The Cup challenge is sweeping Asia, and sees young women showing how they eat and drink without smudging their freshly applied lipstick

HOW to chow down without smudging your lipstick isn’t a conundrum most women spend a lot of time thinking about.

Surely the solution is pretty simple – just reapply it after you’re done eating.

But over in Taiwan, a new ‘hack’ showing how to avoid smudging your lippy or worse still, getting it on your teeth, is sweeping social media.

The lipstick challenge sees young women carefully applying bright red or orange lipstick before eating a mouthful of food.

In videos and pictures being widely shared, they open their mouths as wide as possible for comic affect, pulling hilarious faces in the process.

Some girls cheat a little by using a filter that makes their mouth look incredibly big – if their mouths were really that big then they would probably get through a tube of lippie a DAY.

The challenge via a Chinese video app called Dou Yin, which is similar to Music.ly.

Dou Yin created a challenge called My Big Mouth Never Stains The Cup, which people began taking part in.

claims that the challenge involves women applying lipstick while asking “What do you mean how do I drink water after applying lipstick? I just drink it normally”.

They then turn on the ‘big mouth’ filter and drink the water, but it has since evolved to also include eating.

It’s the latest social media challenge to sweep Asia – and is harmless compared to some.

Last year people posed with pieces of A4 paper to show that their waists were as thin as – or thinner – than a piece of 21cm wide paper.

In the summer an anime cartoon left viewers comparing the length of their feet to their forearms.
