Mum who ‘lived on McDonalds’ during pregnancy loses seven stone after festive photo shame
Sharon Douglas, 39, from Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, decided enough was enough in January 2016
A MUM who gorged on McDonald's and sweet treats during her pregnancies has shed seven stone after being mortified by a Christmas photo.
Sharon Douglas, 39, from Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, comfort ate to cope with morning sickness and carried on after giving birth.
She ballooned from a size 10 to a size 24 and tipped the scales at 17 stone.
But the picture made her realise enough was enough and in January 2016 she cleared her cupboards of junk food and wine and joined the (CWP).
Now Sharon is back to a trim size 10.
She said: "I still cringe when I look at that turkey of a picture, but I feel like a different person now. I look fantastic."
When Sharon came off the Pill to start trying for a baby in 2011, she was diagnosed soon after with polycystic ovary syndrome.
It meant that conceiving was a struggle, and she also put on weight.
She and partner Leo fell pregnant with their first son Johnny, now four, in May 2012, and embraced the idea of eating for two.
Sharon admitted: "It wasn’t unusual for me to eat an entire trifle to myself and I lived on McDonald's and convenience food."
By the time she gave birth in January 2013 she weighed 13 stone.
Sharon signed up to the CWP and managed to lose three-and-a-half stone in six months.
But nine weeks into her second pregnancy in October 2014, she suffered a miscarriage and turned to food for comfort.
She fell pregnant again in January 2015 and Matt was born in October 2015 - by which point Sharon's weight had crept up to 17 stone.
"I hated the way I looked and at a hulking size 24, clothes shopping was a nightmare," she said.
Her lightning bolt moment came in December 2015, after Sharon was invited out for a festive afternoon tea at a posh hotel.
She recalled: "I posed happily for a picture as we enjoyed our day out. But a few days later, I saw the picture on Facebook, and my jaw dropped.
"I looked huge. I was fatter than Father Christmas himself! I was mortified and even after I untagged myself from the photo, I spent the entire festive period feeling rounder than a Christmas pudding."
Once again, Sharon embarked on the CWP - and managed to lose almost a stone in a week.
When she reached 11 stone she started going for runs, and by August 2016 she'd shed an incredible seven stone.
"I loved the reaction my weight loss got," said Sharon.
"I still do the Cambridge Weight Plan occasionally and I watch what I eat - and if I want a drink, I'll have a slimline gin and tonic.
"But this Christmas I'll definitely let go a bit and enjoy myself."
