TIME LOOP

Beauty and the Beast massive plot hole is finally solved… but it’s actually just created another problem for viewers

The live-action version of the film answered a few questions left behind by the 1991 animated film

THE only things better than cartoon Disney films are the live-action remakes of them.

Beauty and the Beast was a hit when it was released in 2017, but did you notice any holes in the plot?

The live-action version revealed why no one in the village Belle and Maurice lived in knew about the Beast's castle.

In the new film, we learn that the enchantress placed a curse on the villagers - not just the beast.

The curse meant that they forgot the castle, prince and all those who lived there ever existed.

dig deeper into the film and come up with a fan theory that, while under the spell, the Beast and his servants don't age - and neither do the villagers.

Reddit's Hainted says: "The village of Villaneuve is caught in the Enchantress' curse as well".

He goes on to suggest that the villagers live in a 'time loop', where they are reliving the same day over and over again.

Not convinced? Well, Belle and Maurice are exempt from this, seeing as they moved to the village after her mother's death - when the curse has already been placed.

Reddit users also picked up on the fact that Belle could walk through the village without looking at where she was going, because she knew what was going to happen next.

When Belle is singing, she comments that 'every morning is just the same' and that the baker has the same food every day.

The villagers are apparently unwelcoming towards Belle and Maurice, because they age normally with each passing year.

But not all the residents are cursed.

Rowsdower92 explains: "Gaston and LeFou are unaffected, having coming home from the war. Gaston doesn't notice, being so narcissistic.

Gaston is able to reject the women who want his affection, as tomorrow they'll wake up with no memory of it.

However, as he is exempt from the curse, he is able to remember that Belle refuses to accept his proposal.

Viewers are also quick to comment on the fact that the film takes place in July, but there is snow around the Beast's castle.

The suggestions are that, apart from the time loop, this represents the Beast's time to break the curse is running out.
