You’ve been using far too much of your beauty products – here’s the amount we SHOULD be applying
PRIOR to putting on make-up or jumping into bed, the temptation is to slather your skin with moisturiser.
But it turns out we've probably been using way too much when it comes to products like night and day cream, eye cream and even foundation.
Top dermatologist , from Australia, has revealed exactly how much we should be using.
And it's a lot less than you'd expect, which is great news for those who have a weakness for pricier products.
Speaking to , she gave her expert advice on what quantity to use to avoid doing your skin more harm than good.
Moisturiser
Two pumps if it is a pump applicator or an almond-sized amount over the entire face is the ideal amount, according to Dr Cook.
Using too much face cream can result in your skin becoming dependent on it for moisture, creating tired and lazy skin that has a dull appearance.
Serum
Apparently we should only be applying a pea-sized amount.
"These products are, in theory, concentrated with a high percentage of active ingredients," Dr Cook explained.
"This means you shouldn't need too much."
Foundation
Even if you're concerned about covering up pimples, try to refrain from layering up the slap.
Yet again we should be aiming for a pea size amount which is then distributed evenly.
"If you've got a larger face, you may need slightly more," Dr Cook added.
Cleanser
Yet again, resist the urge for using a huge dollop at a time.
Dr Cook said: "For cleanser, use one and a half pea sizes or a raspberry-sized equivalent."
Eye cream
"These creams tend to be rich so you only need a small amount," she explained.
The ideal dose, to be underneath your eyelids and across your dark circles, is a sunflower seed-sized amount.
