Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, wowed the crowds in a couture Versace lace bodysuit.

The outfit was finished off with a skirt which had a billowing train.

When she posed for pictures, the superstar revealed the enormous swathe of material which almost took up the whole width of the red carpet.

The 31-year-old, who gave an emotional performance during the ceremony, wasn’t the only one who wowed on the night however.

Beyonce stole the show with a dramatic look designed to turn every head.

The singer, who attended with husband Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy, looked incredible in a black velvet bare-shoulder gown with double slits to show off her legs, designed by Nicolas Jebran.

The real statement was the sculpted hat, also by Jebran, and she also wore Jimmy Choo heels and huge dangling Lorraine Schwartz earrings  - containing 70 carats of diamonds.

Miley Cyrus wore not one, but two outfits, to the glamorous event.

The singer arrived in a chic black jumpsuit which she accessorised with a white flower.

She then swapped into a stunning red dress by Zac Posen that came with a glamorous sweetheart neckline.

It was this outfit she wore for a duet with Elton John later in the evening.

Katie Holmes wowed with her stylish black dress.

The fashion forward choice was a risk for the actress who normally plays it safe on the red carpet.

But it certainly paid off, as she topped the best dressed lists on the night.

Not everyone impressed however, with stars including Pink and Lana Del Ray topping the worst dressed list.

Tonight many of the stars on the red carpet showed their support for the #MeToo campaign and Time's Up movement by wearing a white rose.

Hundreds of stars, including Pink, Fergie, Rita Ora and Zayn Malik, signed a letter released by Voices Of Entertainment which encouraged everyone to wear the symbolic flower.

The letter said they wanted to add “a heightened awareness of accountability that our sisters started on January 1st and continued through the Golden Globes and onward.”

It went on to say: “Inspired by the #TimesUp campaign, tonight we stand with our brothers and sisters in music in support of equal representation in the workplace.

“White roses were chosen because they are symbolic of ‘hope, peace, sympathy and resistance.’”
