Emma Stone announces the PERM is back and it’s not just for your granny
It may be thought of as an 80s trend we'd rather forget but the A list actress appears to be trying to bring the perm back to the present
YOU may have thought the 80s perm trend - along with shoulder pads and leg warmers - had died forever but it looks like Emma Stone is trying to bring it back.
The actress recently got her auburn locks permed with her make-up artist Rachel Goodwin.
So is this hair trend really set to take off in 2018?
Rachel shared the process on her Instagram, uploading a photo of the pair with their hair wrapped in orange and blue curlers.
She captioned the photo series: “We have a permanent bond! Some friends get tattoos, well we get perms!"
She insisted: "We’re here to tell you that they are BACK and theyre not your grandmas perm!"
The finished look was reminiscent of a softer take on Kylie's classic perm but fans weren’t so convinced by the look.
One commented: “Was that done on purpose? That look is the reason we all use conditioner!”
But late last year, Matrix SoColor Celebrity Stylist George Papanikolas revealed the perm was set for a big comeback in 2018.
Speaking to InStyle, he explained: "The perms trend back in the ‘80s had extra volume, tight waves, curly fringe, and lot's of hairspray paired with a scrunchy or headband. Back in the '80s the perm looked frizzier with lots of backcombing.
