Myleene Klass on body core exercises: ‘Tighten your body, bring in your hips and ultimately strengthen your back’

The mum of two, who turns 40 in April, has brought out a fitness guide called MyBody by Myleene.

She is not promising a get-ripped-quick workout, but a regime ANYONE can do and one that gets results.

MyBody By Myleene is for 12 weeks and comes with an exercise DVD, wallplanner and sandbell weight.

It focuses on toning, fat-burning and core strength.Myleene tells JENNY FRANCIS: “There are a lot of quick-fix ideas in fitness . . .  but it’s false to say you can lose 4st without breaking sweat.

Below, Myleene shows you some of her moves you can try at home.

V-Sit

START in a seated position, back straight, arms behind you, chest up, and abs engaged.

Lift feet off floor, crunch knees to chest. Hold for one second, straighten out legs in front, keeping them lifted off the floor. Hold for one second. Repeat.

DO each exercise on this page for 45 seconds then take a 15-second rest.

Do four to five rounds in total.Some moves give the option to use a weighted 3.5kg Hyperwear Sandbell. And remember, check with a doctor before trying these moves.

START in a plank position, elbows below your shoulders, forearms on the floor, forming a straight line along the body, abs engaged, with a weighted sandbell within easy reach.

Grab the sandbell with your nearest hand and drag it under body to the opposite side, keeping hips straight.

Return forearm to floor.

Repeat on opposite side. Repeat.

Eat like her, too

MYLEENE says: “Have a good start. For breakfast, me and the girls have porridge with ­different toppings – banana, berries, raisins. Lunch is lighter. I’m on the go so I’ll have something light like grilled chicken, and I love salads. Supper is meat and veg.

“I’ll never sit here and say I eat what I like, don’t work hard and that’s how I get my body. But I don’t want to go to the movies and sit there with an apple. I want a life, so I run a little longer the next day or do the 30-minute workout.

“You don’t need to overhaul what you eat. Slowly introduce things. Maybe replace a potato with a sweet potato to start.

“It’s about finding small alternatives rather than suddenly saying ‘I’m on a diet’ – because as soon as you say no to something, you are screwed.”

START off lying on your back, making sure your lower back is not arching off the floor.

Lift both legs in the air with knees bent at 90°.

Reach your arms back behind your head and pick up the sandbell.

Keeping your abs engaged, lift arms up and over your head towards your knees, lifting your shoulders off the floor, to an ab crunch.

Hold for one second then slowly return to start position, keeping hold of the sandbell. Repeat.

START in a plank position, elbows below shoulders, palms on floor, forming a straight line along the body, abs engaged.

Push hips to sky, keeping grounded through hands and fingers, while trying to push your heels to the ground.

This is your downward dog pose. Hold for three seconds, then lower hips back down to return to plank position. Repeat.
